    My guess is that spies have been passing on info or are thinking about passing much needed info to the uk and some of the powers in Russia want to send s strong message to woul be defectors. Also Russia is very active against Europe and wants to destabilise the region for its own advantage.

    @ COFTY - "Detective Sergeant Nick Bailey was not first on the scene at the park bench where Sergei and Yulia were discovered. He was assigned to the investigation and attended their home on the outskirts of Salisbury."

    They fell ill after leaving the restaurant and never reached their home?????? The waters get muddier.

    So?

    How about the following scenario? Yulia returns from Russia with contaminated items in her luggage. Sergei and Yulia become ill after opening same during an outing that Sunday. Perhaps it was a present for Sergei. DC.Bailey later searches their house and comes into contact with more contamination and becomes ill.

    Six question marks doesn't make it any more mysterious.

    How does our incomplete knowledge of the details become fuel for insane conspiracy theories?

    Russia is also very active in the Middle East at the moment. Russian ships have been cruising past the uk on their way to Syria. Our battle ships have had to go and make sure they keep their distance from our shores. There is a lot of tension between Britain and Russia at the moment.

    Remember, Alexander Litvinenko??? It's happened before.

    The Bulgarians also assassinated someone in a similar way although in both instances the agent was administered directly.

    Putin respects no one. He is a monster.

    The United States and its European allies are expelling dozens of Russian diplomats in a coordinated response to the poisoning of Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yuri.

    Twenty countries are expelling a total of more than a hundred diplomats/spies in the biggest diplomatic expulsion in history. The US are throwing out 48 diplomats in and closing the Russian Consulate General in Seattle.

    Twelve Russian diplomats at the UN who are described by the State Department as "intelligence operatives" who have "abused their privilege of residence in the United States" have also been given a week to leave.

    Just for the record.

    Thus far, the suspects' identities were revealed.

    A Russian active measures agency aka RT/Russia Today/Sputnik presented the most ridiculous version ever: the men are businessmen (without biographies or relatives, friends, neighbors, clients or anyone else who would sell info to newspapers) who spend entire weekend just to see the Salisbury Cathedral.

    It was revealed that, inter alia:

    the suspects' passport dossiers contain "top-secret" markings;

    a man having similar passport was involved in the 2016 coup plot in Montenegro;

    some persons with similar passports indicated on different documents that their home address was 76B Khoroshevskoe Highway - GRU’s Moscow HQ.

    Wondering what Russia apologists think about this.

    Now come on Corney! If you had three days sightseeing in London after flying in from Moscow it's obvious that ...

    You would travel 90 miles to see Salisbury Cathedral (twice) because the English early spring snow put you off travelling to Stonehenge. I mean you're a Russian from Moscow aren't you?

    Snow would be so scary for a Russian wouldn't it? (Even if it didn't land on Salisbury for a three days after you went there.)

    And after all why would you stay in London? Nothing to see or do there ...
