Okay - okay... I give up!! <hands up in defeat>

I have been... 'ordered' to go to this here shin-dig in Dallas.

I think I have the date/time for it... now if I could find that link for the 'place' to stay.

(Heck - driving up, I'll get to go through Italy, TX again - and drool on the dome homes there again.)

Soooooo... where the heck is the place to reserve a room fer a few nights there in Dallas?

    Regards,

    Jim TX

Hey, puertogerm, I'm glad you're coming! I don't care if pr_capone is bringing Bacardi, I'm bringing Cruzan Rum which is infinitely better due to the smaller quantities produced on the lovely island of St. Croix.

Ah, I love Saturday nights. The one time I can really relax. Cruzan made a seafood stew (mussels, shrimp and scallops) and I opened a charming little cabernet sauvignon. I know that doesn't "go" with seafood, but what the hell. You only live once. Ya know, I feel like dancing. Call me a dancing fool.

Sometimes it's really good to be alive. Ain't life just grand?

Ah, smart Xena! Yes, I grew up in St. Croix (1965-1970, ages 9-14), and it was a truly heavenly place to be a kid/pre-teen. My parents supposedly went there "because the need was greater" but in actuality Dad got a job offer to start up an alumina plant and the money was too good to pass up.

As for the rum factory, here's a story for you: when I was in 6th grade, my dad arranged a field trip to the rum factory. By that time he'd quit the plant and started his own business and was calibrating the instruments at the factory. The owners took us 11-year-olds through the factory and ended up the tour by giving us each two samples of rum, one light and one dark. Dad was smart and confiscated mine before I got back to school. One of my chums made a big deal of drinking one at lunch to prove he was Big Man on Campus, not realizing that Dad KNEW his dad, it was a small island, and . . . they talked that afternoon. Steve was grounded for two months when he came home with ONE rum sample.

    [Big Tex: Stage One complete.]
