Dakota!!!!!!!!! hahahaha Now no one will want one! hahahahaha

This is NOT lime green. It's a lovely light green in real life. Huh, Dakota, Huh, Huh? Tell em. hehe

Yes, Dottie, the flash lightened it a lot and I couldn't get it back right. But note the stitch work, that's what impresses me. Besides, I'm color blind anyway

The colors are really much nicer than the pic shows, that's why I said it doesn't do it justice. I was very impressed and really appreciate you thinking enough of me to send it. It's much too nice to be used on dishes, so it will be a display piece in my kitchen, complete with the ribbon.

    Thanks again,

    Lew W

Things you made yourself for others are priceless.

In my life I have gotten many presents from my grandma. They vary from expensive antic China, to self-made dolls and written notes. Now that she is gone, the things I hold in my hands are the things she made with love for me. At this moment I'm looking at a bunny-doll she made for me. The precision of the stitches, the choice of colors... all those things show a love and care for me that is priceless. I would not trade that bunny doll for anything, not even a high-speed, modern laptop. And if I could keep only one thing, of all the things she gave me, it would be this self made bunny.

Give the dishcloths Wind, they are priceless.

Honestly, I would rather recieve a handcrafted gift, then something expensive, and flashy, becaue a handcrafted gift says alot about the person giving it. It means they took the time, and the care, to share a part of themselves, with the people they care about. How long does it take to order a peice of equipment, as compared to making something for someone. In my book flashy expensive toys, are shallow compared to something that was made for someone.

    Windy,

You've got mail. I'm willing to do a swap, since I do handicrafts too.

Sorry about this cliche, but I can't think of anything more appropriate, especially at this holiday season: It IS the thought that counts.

I'd be glad to get ANYTHING thoughtful in the mail. Even a simple holiday card is met with appreciation. -- Gopher

    Windchaser,

I agree totally with Gopher. Even a "simple" card that I get in the mail means that someone thought of me and took the time to pick it out, sign it, and then go to the trouble of mailing it. Something made with one's own hands would be an even greater gift.

Crocheting is a neat skill that is slowly fading away. Like someone said, if they care anything about you at all, they would love to have "a piece of you." You keep making your dishcloths, Wind. They will be treasured gifts.

I echo what everyone else (and you) have already said. That 2x2 mesh of yarn (or something) is TIME and LOVE, and therefore precious. Coming out of the bOrg, hopefully we can more easily ignore the pagan/christian/commercialism issues and think about what christmas is really about.

I think a hand-crocheted dishclothe would be great... I could put it on my lap so the new laptop that Teejay and Vivamus are going halfsies on doesn't burn my naughty bits!!!

I would send them and keep sending them. One of my best girlfriends makes these and gave me a set of them over 10 years ago and they are still my favorites!!! They have a more substantial feel to them yet they are very soft and I always know she made them for me.

Thanks for sharing the picture Lew!! Great job Wind!! Yours look just like the ones I have. My friend also made thicker versions of these out of strips of rags and they make very nice trivets to put under something hot on the table!! I use those all the time too!!

Keep makin them and keep sending them!!! I'm curious Wind- how long does it take you to make one? Is this a possible cottage industry for you? People really do love this kind of thing - maybe you could sell them over the internet!!!!!
