"Is that scriptural? Would you watch that film/TV programme if Jesus was in the room?"

Hmmm...the way I always heard that one Rebel was "would you watch/listen to that if the Circuit Overseer was in the room?".

Oh boy goofy phrases. I remember this one teacher in high school. He had an algebra class, not taught just had. That's why to this day algebra is still lost on me, he confused me that bad. Anyway he had his little catch phrases too. A few of us sat there one day and listed them. But that's another story.

    Terminology of The Empire.

Spiritual -- All-encompassing adjective granting official approval from The Governing Body, hence from Jehovah himself.

Non/Un Spiritual -- All-encompassing adjective implying lack of approval from The Governing Body and Jehovah.

Weak -- Misses some meetings, puts in less than the minimum required congregation average hours in field service, doesn't comment at every meeting, owns a 2-door car, isn't "reaching out", etc.

Faithful -- lives on a minimum-wage income while pioneering, MS/elder if a male, has kissed and continues to kiss the asses of everyone in authority

Token Service -- puts in just the amount of hours as the congregation average and is not in the "in" crowd

Doing More -- accepted by the "in" crowd and auxilliary pioneers once or twice a year

Reaching Out -- sucks up to the CO

Zealous -- puts in more than the required number of hours as a pioneer

Marked -- not part of the "in" crowd

Matter of Conscience. Always used right along with the words "however" and "avoid".

    Generation -- ???

Worldly -- Ubiquitous adjective denoting disaproval

Demonic -- More ominous adjective denoting disaproval

Satanic -- Adjective denoting ultimate disaproval

Bad Association -- Any contact with other people not approved by the local elders, CO, DO, or GB

Good Association -- The "in" crowd

    Theocratic -- Officially sanctioned

Wholesome -- Approved by the GB

Upbuilding -- JW-sanitized, restricted, restrained, repressed, controlled, and boring

Good Comment -- Read the answer from the paragraph in your own words but saying the same thing as the paragraph says

Young People -- This is one I actually don't have a problem with. Better than calling them kids or children. They're young, they're people, why not? Yeah I know it's dub-speak but kids are people right? Young people. I'll let that one slide.

Ministerial Servants -- wanna-be elders going through the process of major ass-kissing to acheive the rank of elder.

Attendants -- wanna-be MS's going through the process of major ass-kissing to acheive the rank of MS.

Annointed -- takes a bite of stale crackers and washes it down with cheap red wine once a year.

Spiritual Paradise -- over-exaggerated description of happiness within The Empire

Materialism -- when a Witness who isn't in the "in" crowd buys a house, especially one that doesn't come on wheels.

Independent -- doesn't follow the Society's publications to the letter

Stumble others -- don't follow the Society's publications to the letter

Rebellious -- says "no" to an elder/CO/etc.

..."young ones", "unbaptized ones", "elderly ones", "spiritually weak ones"

Not people - ones. That gets on my nerves.

I posted my extreme irritation on this very thing, a long time ago.

    "Such WUNZ"

    "Erring WUNZ"

I cannot say enough how much this grates my nerves. I am SO glad I am not alone.

Another irritating phrase is "opposer". As in, "I was an OPPOSER", "My husband is an OPPOSER"...

"Male organ" and "birth canal" instead of "penis" and "vagina".

Also, "FLESHLY" or "sisters of the flesh" to describe sisters related by blood and not by "spiritual bonds" or some such crap. AAARRGH!!!

I always hated "Praise Jah, you people"

It's bad enough that they constantly say Jehovah this or Jehovah that, but then they have to call Him by is "nickname" Jah, like he was one of the boys. I always thought that the abbreviation "Jah" was disrespectful. Yeah, but a certain PO didn't appreciate it very much when I went up to him and called out "Hey Bill". I was sternly reminded that its BROTHER B______. I just said, "Praise Jah, It's good enough for him, right?" Apparently, he didn't think so.

    Others that come to mind.

    Jehovah's happy people.

I'm going to Auxiliary Pioneer this summer.

    Be obedient to the Org.

You ought to be _________. (fill in any topic from the WT)

This is becoming to dam funny folks, here is one that for some reason sticks in my mind "In like manor", and "those who have wifes behave as though you have none," as a young man I was asked to say a prayer, at around ten years old, I had heard some old brother say near the end of his prayer "King redeamer", so I ended my prayer by saying Winger dinger, hell I did not know any better. "There are still some of you saaving seats," and "please brothers and sisters only one person in a family go to the food stands", I got so tired of this one "There are still reports of brothers not useing the rooming department," and of course this one The need is great but the workers are few," remember this one "Parents! are you encouraging Bethel service,". For some reason i got this phrase in my head "the elements being intensely hot will melt and the stars of the heavens will pass away with a hissing noise," I may have misquoted that, its been a while, all I know is I heard it all the time, and it sacred the shit out of me. Yes! This preoccupation with the word flesh! Very Freudian, I think. They talk about fleshly sisters, the desires of the flesh, Jesus fleshly existence, when Jesus was on Earth in the flesh, the works of the flesh, bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh, Jesus giving up his flesh, dogs eating your flesh, and on and on about the flesh!

There can be more flesh in a KH meeting than in a porno movie!

I skimmed through some of the responses to this thread, apologies for any duplication:

Heard often during the opening talk of every convention or assembly, the phrase "the faithful slave has provided a bounteous spiritual feast for our edificiation..."

    "Satan's World"

    "appreciation for Jehovah's provisions"

the phrase "had to have our thinking readjusted" or "we need to have our thinking readjusted" - used in talks dealing with "new light" on the 1914 generation, alternative service, etc. ; One ;elder at a congregation I used to attend used this phrase all the time in his talks and even in casual conversation, I couldn't stand it!

    the word "fine"

If I ever had to go back to a KH and hear the JW lingo again, I don't know if I would vomit, ;laugh hysterically, or both.
