It is so apparent that these guys so enjoy being such big fish in their own small legalistic pond SMH. They need to get out of the business of playing detective and leave it to trained grown-ups with real-world legal authority.

I'm disliking this guy more and more with every weasely response that comes out of his mouth.

He is sooo in protect mother mode.

This moron is confusing their judicial system with a real legal system. "We disfellowshipped [an abuser] for longer than he was in prison."

McClellan picking him up on it. JWs don't have the ability to deal with child abusers. Service desk is still digging in around the idea that they are more moral than society. He's giving the commission a good glimpse of how they really see things. He talks out of both sides of his mouth.

So far, Mr Stewart has allowed Mr Spinks to answer "it's the absolute right of the victim to go to the police" several times.

He needs to bluntly put to Mr Spinks that if the RC recommends that elders must go to the police immediately upon receiving allegations of child abuse, thus by-passing the judicial committee process, should the WTS accept this?

Child abuse is, first and foremost, a crime.

His Honor isn't letting Spinks off the hook. Finally the JW weasel agrees with the deficiencies of the JW procedures.

Stewart setting out the figures for abuse within JWs and how this guy has been trying to present them to minimise things. Redacted report will go into exhibits, along with correspondence with WT's lawyers related to it.

289 reports of abuse in past 10 years. Most related to earlier period.

Was that 289 reports of abusers or incidents of abuse in the last 10 years? If it is abusers then this compares very badly to the number for the previous 55 years, being the remainder 717 of 1006,

Ha. It is established that elders collect 'evidence" by obtaining stories from the child or victim that was a child at the time of the abuse, Nicely done.

And, so many times the stories are told...from one elder to another - and what about those "confession" sessions? All those men, sitting around in a circle. Talking about sex with a minor. With the minor right there sometimes.

Huh. An "observer" elder. While an elder talked to a minor about sex. Watching. Listening. In some places that would be termed voyeurism.

Spinks: . but should we say that we will NEVER allow a pedo returned to cong? Elders don't stop rehabilitation. UnChristian to stop pedophiles from attending meetings.

McClellan: you miss the point. Civil procedures have mechanisms that JWs don't. JWs don't have the education or means to rehabilitate.

Spinks: We are willing to change.
angus: Do JWs engage at all in assisting the ped to get treatment?
Spinks: No. our concern is only spiritual things
Angus: Catholics say the same, but have now set up programs to deal with Peds.
    Spniks: i see.
