Yeah, she said that... Interesting that they don't follow that...

I've been listening for about 1/2 an hour. Dr. Applewhite has spent a lot of time discussing her involvement in education and prevention of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church.

Not too much about her involvement with the WTBTS.

Now it's getting interesting. They are asking her about creating an environment where victims feel SAFE and COMFORTABLE coming forward.

Dr. Applewhite agreed that this is important, a "child-centered" and/or a victim/survivor environment.

Still not much directly about the WTBTS.

Hired gun was my initial thought, but the line of questioning now and how she is responding is pretty contrary to WT systems. She better be careful or WT may stiff her on her payment!

Dr. Applewhite: "The question is, 'How is the child going to be safe?' is the question that has to be answered."

She used the example of a school, saying that they must report suspicions of abuse to the appropriate authorities (child welfare/protective services) and rely on the authorities to take action.

Obviously the WTBTS does NOT do this.

Getting strong impression that this woman has skimmed the WT policy documents with no knowledge of how they're applied (in reality) nor the culture of what it's like within a closed mindset cult. Be interesting to see her report.

"If there's not a safe way for a child to come forward, then that institution has failed." - The older silver haired gentleman conducting the inquiry, don't know his name.

    Dr. Applewhite agreed.

Applewhite just testified that she was specifically hired by the "Jehovah's Witnesses" to "review their literature" in reference to issues of the sexual abuse of children.

The men examining her asked if she had ever been critical of the WTBTS. She answered, "No."

    What a surprise!

I wonder whether the "Literature" she was asked to review included the Branch manual that says it is ok to make a pedophile an elder.
