Hey CW02, sorry to hear about this situation. If you dont have time to read the books recommended, I have a great video that is about an hour long and gives the skinny on the Witnesses. I would be happy to send it to you free of charge. Watch it, and keep it if you wish. Email me.. [email protected]

Ok I am being a mega bitch today and I can't help it.

    A) How can you love someone enough to marry them after only a month?

    B) How can you respect someone who treats you so poorly?

    • He didn't tell you he was a witness up front (THAT IS WRONG-especially when it is such a huge issue!)
    • He didn't tell his parents about you. Which I understand, but he should have talked to them BEFORE asking you to marry him
    • He let his mother treat you like crap. You can expect this to be a norm in your relationship.
    • He will never be happy unless you become a dub too. That is what he wants, for you to study and become a witness. That is the easiest answer in his frame of mind, which is so unfair to you
    • He has made you cry. Lots. You don't deserve to cry, especially over crap like this

    C) You can expect more of the same gut wrenching pain to follow if you continue this relationship. Now you need to answer this: is he worth it?

When I was freshly "out of the religion" but still believed all the teachings I was dating a nice young woman. We were both 23 years old. I still believed but wasn't really going to the meetings and still considered myself a Witness - she loved me enough to actually check out the religion.

She went to a couple meetings (without me knowing) and aranged some meetings with the elders to ask some questions. I recently had contact with her 7 years later. She revealed to me that she looked into the religion. Her reaction, at the time was, "these people are wacked". She even ripped up my blood card, while we were dating, because she wouldn't let me die because of that religions stand on that issue. She was honestly SCARED! She was horrified about a lot of what they believed. She loved me but in no way would ever be a Witness - her words exactly!

Here-in lies you conflict. If you accept that your fiancee will remain a Witness, you respect that but it's not for you...............YOU LOSE! Jehovah's Witness don't accept that. You and him will be looked down on by all his JW friends and family.

Why don't you do the same - set up a meeting with some of the elders and ask questions. I guarantee you won't get any straight answers or you will be confused/persuaded if you don't have any bible knowledge. You will also see that aceptance and love are conditional on you being a Witness. Please be careful! No matter how strong your love is it can not even compare to the gripping controll the Watchtower has over its followers!

I feel very sad about your situation.

It looks like everyone has given you extremely good advice so far.

Such good information on this thread. Hope CW comes back to see it all.

Going to throw it back up to the top, in case she comes back.

    Hi CW02,
Your situation is very sad and only more pain can come from it. I think maybe, for the first time every poster on the thread is in agreement, you can try and get him out or walk away, but as others have said he is NOT the man you think he is. All I can say is find a new guy, the pain will pass in time.

I wish for happy endings but there isn't one to your relationship with him. I'm so so sorry.

    Hey,

Look, I was a witness boy chasing worldly girls for a long time before I got dffed.

Here's the deal: tell him that if he wants you, he has to drop the religion. Completely. Move out of his parent's house.

You'll be doing him a favor. You'll be setting him free.

Otherwise, run away. It will be hell. Don't let him bounce you up and down like a yo-yo while he sorts through his religious crisis. I know, I did it.
