Should JESUS be worshipped or prayed to?

    I want to consider this point, free from the Trinity / Arian debate.
    There have been an abundance of threads that have deteriorated into these doctrine, and it clouds this issue because tempers get raised.

    So, please, can we keep it simple. Should Jesus receive our worship, right here, right now?

    Following on from that, but a separate point, is it right to pray to him?

    Hmm, well if I understand the trinity correctly, Jesus is One with God and the Holy spirit yet is individual at the same time right? If they are separate yet one, I would imagine that Godhead is still the one that should be receiving the worship. As Jesus is the intermediary, I would imagine that prayer would be appropirate. BUt what the hell do I know.

    Why would Jesus want you to worship him?

  • LittleToe

    LOL @ Naeblis - once again you've brought a smile to my face
    Valid point, in a trinitarian context, but I want to sidestepp that particular debate, in this thread

    Sleepy, also a valid question, but not what I was asking. Do you want it adding to the melting pot as a third part to the thread?

    -I usually like to start out with an argument for the flexability (to Trinitarian support ) of the Greek word 'proskuneo' . Then I proceed to discuss the following three in additon to a few others:

    Hi LittltToe;

    IMHO; No.

    He said himself you should pray 'this' way....

    I'll assume he knew what he was talking about!

    Anyone who NEEDS to be worshipped is an insecure asshole.

    I don't care how many heads they have.

    Jesus said: "Where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in their midst." (Matt. 18:20)
