If Muslim is supposed to be the religion of peace, Jehovah's Witnesses has to be the religion of guilt.

Yep, pretty much always. Most of the thoughts I had and things I wanted to do were the opposite to how we were supposed to think and want to do.

Plus I'm an elder's daughter. A decent, caring, elder, but straight-laced and obedient all the same.

Guilt and shame is how the watchtower motivates it's free labour force.

They also use death threats too( Armageddon)

Many JWs were perpetually guilty but many young people were not. They often feigned guiltiness but when they were with the heir friends they would admit it was all an act.

At one point I realized there was no use in feeling guilty if I wasn't going to change my behavior so I just stopped caring.

My wife, though, is driven by her guilt. She hates going to meetings (except gossiping afterwards) and hates going out recruiting, but she is faced with uncontrollable guilt if she doesn't go. I wish I knew how to get her past that so she could get some time away and deprogram a bit.

It's tough when one mate is still mentally in.

When I was 14 I watched porn for the first time. I felt so guilty that I almost went to the elders to confess. Good thing I didn't lol, my PO's elderette wife probably would've invited the whole congo just to gossip about it, like she does every sunday after the meeting to talk smack about everyone else.

The funny thing is their clique will have dinners every sunday after the meeting to gossip. I'm always invited since Im good friends with their son. And they NEVER invite the speaker, even if he has no where to eat. She does this on purpose so that once me and their son go out to play basketball they can start talking about EVERYBODY.

Yondaime, I watched porn too. And no, I didn't confess to the elders about it, even though it became a habit. I just didn't think it was their business to know

Yep, all the time! Be it how low my hours were, how I didn't study for this or that meeting, whether watching Lord of the Rings was okay, or reading the Wheel of Time series might be putting me in line for destruction, be it how I did at the door, and whether I stumbled anyone to their eternal destruction (and thus mine)...ect, ect...
