Zalkin said $10.5 million of the amount was for punitive damages as a result of the Watchtower’s response to the Campos scandal.

That's the most important part. Courts recognize that the coverup should be considered criminal but all they can do is reward money, so they show how disgusting Watchtower's actions were with that much money.

“Jehovah’s Witnesses abhor child abuse and strive to protect children from such acts,” the organization said in a statement.

Ya riiiiight. Your '2 eye witness rule' really helps protect children from the pervs in the congregations. Don't worry Crooklyn, there's lots more judgements coming your way soon.

Sooner. than. you . think !!!

There are far more cases hidden due to WT's "gag order" settlements, but three recent cases highlight how badly WT is getting their collective butt kicked. Imagine how bad it really is:

    1. Candice Conti: $28 million

    2. Campos: $13.5 million

    3. Oregon case: $20 million

    -

I wonder how quickly JW donations would dry up if parents knew they were giving the children's inheritance to WT...and all it was paying for is the fallout from decades of stupidity on the part of WT?

“Jehovah’s Witnesses abhor child abuse bad publicity, getting caught and paying millions in damages and strive to protect children WT's own interests from such acts lawsuits,” the organization said in a statement.

    .

Note that when things go south, all JWs are implicated in the bad publicity, not Watchtower. When there's bragging about something good, then WT takes full credit and suddenly forgets about "Jehovah's Witnesses".

Zalkin seems to be doing a steady job. It's good to see that jw.org is being held accountable. I am annoyed though at their audacity to keep trying to appeal decisions....it's no good. Kate xx

The battles are long and drawn out, but worth it.

Abusers should not go unnoticed and unpunished, and any organization that protects them should be punished to the full extent of the law.

Jehovah takes too damn long! Abusers do their deed now, therefore, shall pay now!

This is the problem. Most JW's never find out about these things.

They will even see it as persecution and donate more to 'protect the society' from what they will assume to be 'evil opposers'
