....... then why wouldn't the WTBT$ easily make the entire program, complete with rockstar GB's, cheesy dramas, etc, available on YouTube or some other free or almost free web streaming service? Obviously it is a HUGE burden for a majority of the "friends" to attend a regional convention and many either cannot go or it takes all of our their funds (or borrowed funds) to be able to make it. How about all the "friends" that are morbidly obese, infirm, have extreme health conditions, have unbelieving mates, or have mental issues which prevent them from attending a convention? So why wouldn't the GB/FD&S/WTBT$ just have fewer RC's and let the poor JW's stay home and watch from home? Wouldn't that be the loving thing to do given the simplicity of the technology now and the massive hardship the conventions cause so many?

The ONLY reason I can think of why they do not already do this is because the WTBT$ would lose out of the donations made at the conventions. This also must have something to do with the new trend started this year to have larger stadium conventions and have less of them. So maybe they are headed in that direction? But those decisions won't be made out of love or relieving a burden. It will be made because the $$ numbers do not work out for the WTBT$ to keep putting on expensive conventions if they do not profit enough in donations to make it worth while.

AND...its all about the feeling of unity and the HYPE of being in attendance together with the masses!

Its a classic tactic used throughout history by manipulative groups!

Big hype in a crowd of like-minded people to keep the masses unified!

Just think, the average witness is more keen on things like the banners, gift bags, logo'd merchandise, and the travel to the venue, lunch time catch ups.......the actual boring talks are only the side point!

No one is actually travelling to HEAR the information!...No its all about the ACT of being together and seeing other witnesses all in one place that attracts most!

You got it- They have to make everyone that misses out feel guilty with no way to make it up. It's difficult to collect money contributions from anyone unless they are there to walk past the sister with the contribution box.

But the larger venues allow more people to be "missed." So many faders and those that don't want to be there can easily avoid judgemental members until they hear what was said, then say they were there. How is anyone going to know when 5 thousand or more people were there?

I heard that there was a code that could be used to view parts of the R.C.

Supposedly you get the code from your COBE if you are deemed unable to attend for health reasons.

The whole convention program video can be downloaded (from jw.org) and can be burned onto a dvd or stored on a usb stick so that people who could not attend can watch

Another convenient thing to pull from the OT... traveling to Jer. 3 X each year for the festivals... to further a hidden agenda? Isn't the mosaic law done away with? Did the 1st century Christians go to RCs? Do JWs really follow the example of early Christians? Can I watch it on Netflix? lol

For the same reason the GB didn't take out full page ads in every major newspaper worldwide, billboards and every tv and cable network announcing to the world that the Governing Body is the faithful slave that Jesus pointed to and they, and they alone, are God's channel for salvation.

It seems news that important should've been publicized in more than just the Study Edition of the WT, and mentioned only once at that.

WT historically likes to keep the really juicy stuff on the low low.
