Jehovah's Witnesses to hand over top-secret manual

On Friday Finland's Jehovah's Witnesses will give their religious rule book to the Minister of Justice and the Minister of the Interior so that it can be inspected to ensure that it's in line with Finnish rule of law.

Until now, only senior members of the Jehovah’s Witnesses Committee have had access to the congregation's secret book of rules.

The disciplinary activities of the Jehovah's Witnesses Committee have been criticised for violating human rights.

According to Anna-Maja Henriksson, Finland's Minister of Justice, the purpose of the handover is to examine the book and determine whether its rules and regulations run counter to Finnish law.

Henriksson and Interior Minister Päivi Räsänen met on Thursday with the leadership of the Jehovah's Witnesses in Helsinki. The book will be handed over on Friday for inspection.

According to representatives of the Jehovah's Witnesses, committee practices have been changed recently and the committee no longer addresses or interferes in the matters of its members that are considered to go against church guidelines.

Aren't you wondering if she'll get the REAL version and not one that they have on-hand for situations like this? I have a weird feeling that she'll see a watered down/edited version of the "Flock" book.

Pretty sure someone will point them to the online PDF version, just in case!

But would they be so stupid to give an edited copy, and risk a contempt of court charge?

Of course, the Minister of Justice will not receive all of the hand written notes that every elder is instructed to add into their books during elder schools and from CO's letters when they visit.

Very clever - they pre-empted this already.

The Watchtower has no problem lying. Once they are caught they will print a bunch of articles of how religious freedom under threat in Finland.

Raging, I thought the same thing about the "public" copy of the handbook...will be interesting to see the fallout though. This might just start the ball rolling downhill to crush the org in some countries. No more religious exemption and then high taxes, so perhaps they've seen this coming and are ramping up the funds for that too, not just molestation cases.

Do the notes give them more specific direction? Can anyone give us an example of what is a mild guidline in print but a common controlling direction from the notes.
