So your plan is to leave to chance that there will be enough doctors, educators, engineers, laborers, etc., to fill the roles and just hope it works out? What if the doctors decide they would rather do something else? What if the engineers decide to be porn stars?
What if no one wants to fill specific needs that arise? Why would you take a chance with people's lives by not planning and just hoping for the best?

So you would just hope they had enough engineers, teachers, doctors and scientists? You would ship people light years away having no idea if they had the skillsets or resources to survive?
