7 years ago I started on a path I had long ago given up on as impossible. I met with my elders and told them I could not justify carrying on as a JW. I went and got my high school qualifications and my higher education diploma (A levels with distinction) in just 12 months. I was 26 years old.
I was accepted to start a 6 year Medical Degree the next summer, I had wanted to be a doctor from a young boy, medical school as an outcast JW with no financial support and few friends and family was no joke.
At 10am today, after 6 years of hell, I got the email with my results for my medical finals.
All passed.
I did it, I'm a doctor of medicine and surgery ..... It feels amazing to achieve it. It was by far the hardest thing I will ever do, but also the most fulfilling.
