My Former Congregation is Dead

When I left the JW organization, there were about 80 publishers in my congregation. Within the last month, the congregation was abolished because it only had 29 publishers in it. The apparent reason for this was one elder on a power trip. People left and went to other congregations.

It's kinda strange. I spent 13 years being part of that congregation, and now it's history. Oh well, such is the JW religion.

Someone should have told the CO what was going on. Maybe he could have stopped it.

He was only imitating the model set by the GB!

So just curious, what do they do with an elder like that? Foist him on another cong? Can you imagine if you left for another congregation only to find the reason you left has followed you? Ugh

    From 80 to 29 ? Thats 64% loss or attrition ?

I only hope this represents the overall trend.

I went to a congregation I attended over 20 years

ago that had 150 in it and now its down to a handfull

and shares the space with two or three other small

groups who are left from other congregations that

shrank in size. How much longer can they keep the young

    folks in ignorance ?

We had a way to deal with that in NY. People weren't allowed to move congregations, unless they moved their residence to within the new territory.

Heck, you weren't even allowed to go to the wrong book study. Once they changed the boundaries, and people who had been with the same group for decades were forced to change. It was so hard on them. They are so isolated from the normal world already--ripping those tiny things from them was just mean.

Sometimes Kingdom Halls end before the world does. Who'd have thought?
