It is easy to not be a cult if you define what a cult is.

Some think of a cult as people who kill pigs and drink their blood naked in time square on new years eve.

Obviously we are not a cult.

Ask a cultist what a cult is, and he'll give you a definition that only includes things his religion is not.

factnet.org has some really interesting descriptions.

Besides legit sources like that, there is also the dictionary. Letting a cultist get away with redefining the word is illogical.

we pattern our worship after that of the first-century Christians

Who you pattern your worship after has nothing to do with whether or not you are a cult. Many cults say they pattern their worship after Jesus--or indeed that they're the only ones who do.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not look to any human as their leader. Rather, we adhere to the standard that Jesus set for his followers when he stated: "Your Leader is one, the Christ."

I'll just use their own words to put the lie to this one.

    9/15/10 WT, p.23

In this time of the end, Christ has committed “all his belongings”— all the earthly interests of the Kingdom—to his “faithful and discreet slave” and its representative Governing Body, a group of anointed Christian men. (Matt. 24:45-47) The anointed and their other sheep companions recognize that by following the lead of the modern-day Governing Body, they are in fact following their Leader, Christ.

    *** w94 2/15 p. 4 Cults—What Are They? ***

Their devotion to a self-proclaimed human leader is likely to be unconditional and exclusive. Often these leaders boast of having been divinely chosen or even of being themselves divine in nature.

It's astonishing that a watchtower writer could write articles saying, "nope! we're not a cult" without something in the brain saying, "heeeeeeyyyy....waitaminute..."

There are multiple ways they get you to start thinking this way, and believing it is wrong to "stumble" someone else with anything they might not like to hear about their own religion 12 I was never baptized, but my sister cut me off because I asked her a couple of tough questions she could not answer.

Sometimes they will say do not bring reproach on Jehovah's holy name. To me that is about as same as equating themselves to God. These people are so cunning and cultish that they are not even aware of that. You cannot see when you are in the 'box' Outlaw, as usual, you are awesome. These guys are 7-popes for a reason. 7 stands for completeness as a whole, refers to their defination in that red revealation book.
