I accept that science cannot prove the non-existence of God. But . . .

See I answered your question before you asked it! How clever am I?

haha not you didn't, duality doesn't mean they are not sub-atomic particles.

    Define particle?

Soon, subatomic constituents of the atom were identified, although as the 1930s opened, only the electron, photon, and proton were known.

I rest my case, it's all complex and mysticle. Try again Angus to put ruffles in my credibilty. I am game Love you to bits Angus xxx

That is one of a multitude of definitions, but it is correct.

A particle is part of something whole. An electron is part of an atom

Sam - electrons occupy orbitals in 3 dimensional wave or clouds, therefore not physical particles and definitely not mystical

OK I will buy your definition (reluctantly )

3D waves or clouds are a different way to descrbe electrons if you don't want to define them as sub-atomic particles. That's okay with me to talk in quantum physics language instead of phys chem terms.

It even more emphasises the mysticle nature of atoms. It's so complex to describe you couldn't even draw it to give the concept justice. aren't they so amazing and spiritual?

Plane wave traveling in the x-direction

For a free particle the potential is V(\bold{r}) = 0. The Schrödinger equation for such a particle, like the free electron, is [1] [2] [3]
