Is it VITAL that we recognize the faithful slave?

If the slave is ONLY the current GB and our life is dependent on working with that slave and recognizing that slave,

then I guess salvation for everyone who worked with the previous slave is up the creek cause they didn't know who that slave was.

Jesus said to the woman at the well, "We worship what we know..."

How does that equate to what the Watchtower has taught for decades?

If also recognising this slave is 'vital to our spiritual relationship with God'.. in not recognising it for 130 years.. logically it follows that no one in the entire witness organisation has had any relationship with God at all because no one knew who or what the slave was...

I'm really not surprised that people are having severe cognitive dissonance and serious mental health problems in the society. This is beyond belief.

One of their fairly new teachings contains the germ that would undo their insistence on recognizing the GB as essential. According to their current interpretation of the sheep and goats parable, those who are sheep are NOT the great crowd. Therefore, those sheep are given life without recognizing who Jesus Christ's brothers are and joining the borg (even as the gospel of Matt so reads).

Maybe they should have stuck with the old Feddie Franz interpretation, as anti-contextal as it was. At least it kept the you've-got-to-be-in-the-ark view. As somebody here noted in a different thread, this current sheep and goats parable interpretation has opened up a potential can of worms...

    Good comments!

    SOP and Dis-Member, exactly!

According to the GB, recognizing the "faithful slave" is VITAL (absolutely necessary; essential) to ones spiritual health and relationship with God; and yet by the GB's own admission, neither they themselves nor any JW on the planet had correctly recognized the slave up until this past Watchtower study.

Just how did NOT recognizing the "faithful slave" (which is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY and ESSENTIAL) affect individual JWs? How was their "spiritual health" affected? How was their "relationship with God" affected? What about individual JWs who died before the new light? What is their status with God?

If such a recognition of the "faithful slave" is VITAL, then there ABSOLUTELY MUST be some negative effect associated with NOT recognizing the slave. So what is it?

Alternatively, if there is no negative effect to Jehovah's Witnesses for NOT recognizing the "faithful slave", then the statement by the WTS is just a BALD-FACED LIE.

Either way, individual Jehovah's Witnesses should be concerned.

the man of lawlessness, the son of destruction, he is set in opposition and lifts himself up over EVERYONE..so that he sits down in the temple of God showing himself to be god. 2 thess 2:3-5

sounds like the GB who claim only by listen to them do any get saved, etc, and to obey their words above what you may think the bible says.

hmmm... Interesting! Let's see what scripture they use to back this up.

It is vital that we recognize the faithful slave. Our spiritual health and our relationship with God depend on this channel.—Matt. 4:4; John 17:3.

“4 But in reply he said: “It is written, ‘Man must live, not on bread alone, but on every utterance coming forth through Jehovah’s mouth.’”

“3 This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ.”

Not sure how these verses actually apply to the GB, but they sure are making some big claims. It seems i read somewhere, how they deny being false prophets, since they have never claimed to actually be speaking for God (You know, back when they were uninspired and predicted the end of the world).

I guess we are under new rules. New truth. Since THESE guys are speaking for God, then we can trust them this time. I mean, it is vital.
