Is it VITAL that we recognize the faithful slave?

Get a load of this audacious and brassy statement by the self-appointed FDS in par 2 of todays’ lesson:

‘It is vital that we recognize the faithful slave. Our spiritual health and our relationship with God depend on this channel’

It's absurd for the WTS to claim that recognizing the "faithful slave" is VITAL, considering that they have only just now identified the slave.

Vital means ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY; ESSENTIAL.

How could "recognizing the faithful slave" be ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY and ESSENTIAL when up until this point in time, JWs have NOT CORRECTLY RECOGNIZED the slave?

If recognition of the "faithful slave" IS vital, then what is the consequence of having NOT recognized the slave for all those years? And if there is no consequence for having NOT recognized the slave (which I assume would be the jw position), then how could recognition of the slave be said to be vital?

According to the Jehovah's Witnesses they're more vital than a life-saving blood transfusion. They also allegedly give instructions that puny humans cannot understand.

I thought that Jesus said something about "No man can come to the Father except through the GB."

Good point about the FDS not even being clear on the identity of the FDS and yet everybody's life depends on it.

Obviously just another "You better listen to us or else" statement with no basis.

To DD's point - I think it is amazing how they tell "studies" to question their preacher and not accept excuses like "you just gotta have faith" or "you shouldn't question the word of God", then later when you start asking too many questions in JW land, you get the exact same lines of bull!

I never thought about it like that. That's strong.

I have thought about the fact that the scripture is obviously addressing the slave not the "domestics". It is couseling/warning the slave to do a good job. It certainly isn't telling the domestics "you better get to finding the slave that has all the food so you don't starve to death" It is quite a stretch when you really look at.

WOW Jgnat, right on. They are they only slave that demands recognition of their position as slave from the Master's house. Then they demand obedience. Not since Nell in Gimme a break, has there been such a sassy housekeeper..
