Elders, MS, regular pioneers could be removed if they attend, many have been threatened with such and many have been. I married a non-jw 20 years ago and while some elders, MS and pioneers attended, they were threatened by not removed.
Nowadays it is different. So jw relatives and friends may not attend unless they have nothing to lose.

I agree with that. Weddings are typically way more important to the bride. I suggest: Do it up the way she wants to, invite only your closest JW family or extremely closest JW friends, and hope for the best on that. If any questions come to you beforehand about details so they can decide whether or not to come, suggest they just skip the event if it might bother their consciences.
