Of course not all religions are equally harmful - nobody lies awake at night worrying about the threat of Baha'i terrorism.
The world would be a better place if the RCC went out of business tomorrow.

Come on Cofty. I almost don't even want to reply.....
The catholic church is NOT responsible for the spread of poverty or aids, contrary to the beliefs of some.
Their teachings DO promote respect of life and marraige. They do promote the spreading of the true gospel.
Multiple partners and contraception is obviously at odds with the gospel.....sorry, I know that is not politically correct, but maybe it is correct anyway.
respectfully...even if it doesn't sound that way,

Too disruptive, cofty; we're talking 2.2 billion people. That's like disbanding China (1.3 billion) and India (1.2 billion) all at once.
It's going to have to be the old fashioned way; reform from within.
I'm just glad that finally the abused are getting a voice, in all religious organisations who attempt to quieten them and cover it up. It seems that social media is definitely making a difference, and making it possible for their voices to be heard. Shocking link there Blondie.

2.2 billion nominal Catholics. I know many people included in that number, friends and family, who are Catholics only in the most tenuous and cultural of senses.
What weasel words in his resignation:
" For any good I have been able to do, I thank God. For any failures, I apologise to all whom I have offended."
As if to imply that good works he has done excuse criminal behaviour and rank moral hypocrisy.
contraception is obviously at odds with the gospel.....
Then the gospel is idiocy
I'm just wondering where in the 'gospel' (good news) is contraception considered wrong?

Probably the only passage in the gospels relating directly to contraception: Matt 19:12.
Only metaphorical?
Tell that to Origen of Alexandria.
Isn't that about eunuchs and abstinence Slimboyfat? As opposed to married women restricting their family?

The RCC simply needs to declare contraception to be a sin by fiat and it is so in the minds of millions of devotees.
Even in a monogamous marriage this arbitrary law leads directly to large families that cannot be supported in the developing world.
Just as is the case in the Watchtower it is about control.
