Just got back from Florida where i spent the holidays with family. About half are Jdubs.
This year the prevalent atmosphere of superiority from the JW side of the family was totally toned down. One of my cousins, a Bethelite in upstate NY Bethel along with his wife, found out that the wife was having an affair with a young bethelite "brother". Once the $hit hit the fan, all hell broke lose - the young bethelite jumped in front of a train and killed himself after being disfellowshipped.
Apparently when he was kicked out of bethel and Dfed, his parents gave him a really hard time and turned their backs on him along with the rest of the "brothers"..AHHH the love.. So the kid, in desperation and with no one to turn to, took his own life. The wife was also kicked out of bethel and D-fed after admitting that she had been wasting her life living there instead of pursuing her interests in fashion.
Although this sad episode brought a glimpse of humanity and reality to the typical delusional way Jdubs look a the organization and especially bethel, it didn't take long for the comments about "Jehovah is cleaning is organization" to come out. It seems that everything can be use to support the idea that Jehovah is truly blessing the organization - even this.
