This type of approach is simply the GB being caught between a rock and a hard place. They HAVE to keep peoples' expectations up otherwise the majority will start to slack or even leave. They HAVE to maintain some attitude of an imminent fullfilment of prophecy. On the other hand they know that the prominance of 1914, the generation (even in it's latest iteration) and the passing of time gives them less and less wiggle room. It's a ticking time bomb hence the catch-22 message.

It appears now the WTS. is fighting against its own history, a history that is presenting a real
problem for the organization in the way that the organization has always proclaimed that it alone has
been chosen by god, the one and true religious organization upon all other false religions.
Things certainly are quite different for the WTS. than they were 30, 40 years ago, there's the freely available information
on the inter-net that has exposed much of the maligning corruption of this organization.
Time itself has presented a problem for much of what was said or proclaimed by the WTS. never transpired.
Reading that recent article tells bit of the problematic situation they are in, in how to do they go about
validating yourself as the chosen organization, when it has professed so many falsehoods right back
to its very beginning.
The GB wants to keep the power and control, not to mention the finical framework of the organization
but there an elephant in the room they have to contend with, that is " The Truth "
