Yeah the "cookies" ending has to be the mother of all delusional conclusions. I'd call BS on that if the source wasn't a reputable long time poster!

But they are painfully, or should I say dangerously out of touch with reality. Their "suicide" instructions for those facing a JC prove that as well.

Thanks for posting Sir! I don't even know when our's is, only that it's sometime this year. 75% of the body isn't even aware that there is a one-day'er encroaching.

One quick question, any instruction at this one day'er on pedophilia situations?

The differance between how mainstream "Christendom" handles suicidal members VS. Cult of JW's:

JW's: Makes the suicidal member for guilty for their own feelings and expects to be served.

Christendom: Makes the suicidal member feel loved and welcome, offers to help and get them help, and brings them food and serves them.

See the differance? Real religions take care of their members, vs Cults who just ask, "What have you done for us lately? Do more, and don't complain!"

Romans 15:4 "For all things written aforetime for our instruction, that through our endurance and COMFORT from the scriptures we might have hope." If you take a superficial viewpoint of Job, yeah it's depressing and using the account may come across as nonsensical. But it's similar to the Psalms...or a Victorian novel. Through the adversity and perseverance of others, we teach ourselves how to cope and handle trying situations. EVERY situation does not call for professional help, therefore it shouldnt be expected that they suggest that this be mentioned in such a case. But, as spiritual overseers, it is their responsibility (primarily) to be of any spiritual assistance they can to the congregation.

Obviously the elders can use their discernment and recommend professional help. The WTS doesnt have to tell them every little common sense thing to do. I think the point of the video was illustrating how elders can use the Bible inffectively and perhaps pour salt on an open wound.

Isn't it interesting that the elders are so heavily criticized for trying to do what they are SUPPOSED to do (according to the Bible). Nevermind the fact that they do this WILLINGLY and without pay, unlike 90%of religious leaders today.

OH Ethos, please knock it off. This is BULLSHIT. Elders have NO business dealing with someone that's suicidal. That's a medical or mental problem that needs to be addressed by someone that can REALLY help.

Ethos - I used to be an elder, so I feel fairly well-placed to comment on the elder arrangement and its limitations. We are all well aware that most elders are basically good guys who offer their time and energy for free. However, once you have actually been an elder you realize that holy spirit has absolutely no role in the arrangement whatsoever. Elders are simply company men serving an organization and enforcing its policies, and elder bodies have just as much office politics and personality conflicts as any secular management team you could imagine.

May I ask, have you ever actually been an elder?

Surprisingly little. We were instructed to bring a copy of the October 2012 LBOE outlining the new policy. All they did was read over the letter, not in its entirety, but highlighting various points. No expansion on any of the points was made.

I get the impression it was done to satisfy some sort of internal legal department dictate, i.e., "now we can say that we know that 99.X% of elders have read the new policy (because we read it to them at their school)."

Of course, no mention was made of the Conti case.

Same thing with the Porn LBOE from April. Just read over the letter, no expansion or clarification.

Exactly. The point here is that they were given absolutely no guidance toward getting a suicidal person competent professional help.

Whether they read her JOB or Mary Had a Little Lamb is irrelevant - this lady needed to be guided toward professional council.
