Yes, it's just that the JW's wanted to look totally different than the priests. So instead of a black shirt and little white thing (like a tie) that the Catholics wear, JW's wear a white shirt and dark ties.
Just a different uniform.

Yes, there is. The priest's role is spiritual. Elders have a juridical role.
Priests can't do anything like disfellowshipping. Disfellowshipping is relatively frequent. Excommunication is very rare.
Priests never cross-examine like elders.

Priests also generally have more training and education.

Priests serve to listen to the flock. Elders serve as judge and jury of the flock. Sad but true!
