It seems that the WT is guilty of illegally dumping printing chemicals (or as they like to say "ruining the earth") in upstate New York. Read the full articles from the news sites below.

    Gonna try to be fair...

The dumping took place back in the 70s. What were the laws then? Not as tight as now obviously. Maybe, possibly, when they first buried the drums, it wasn't illegal. But now that it is found to be contaminating the soil, they'll have to pay for the clean up.

    That's one side.

The other side is that it does show hypocrisy, no matter what the law was then or now. The organization that keeps harping on how many is ruining the earth is found to be no different...or better... than any other large firm that needs to cut costs when it comes to environmental issues.

It's not surprising and they'll probably make good on paying the costs of the clean up so they can brag to the local dubs at how environmentally conscious they are.

This practice has always been considered unethical in that era (if not specifically illegal in the 1970s). Of course, it did not stop the Air Force and other big businesses that the Watchtower loves to hate on.

What I was wondering was whether or not this was deliberate dumping with the intent to hide it? What were they doing with printing chemicals at one of their farms anyway? All the printing (to my knowledge) was done in Brooklyn at that time...I visited Walkill Farm in the early 70s and can not remember being shown any printing - they were making a big deal about organic farming and how they were providing food for the bethelites.

IIRC they were outspoken critics in the 1970s of those who dumped chemicals.

Anyway, why couldn't jehoopla publish his ragazines without toxins?

This thread would be the perfect place to see any WT articles from that time period posted, criticizing that practice... and then compare it to these newspaper articles...

They were making cleanup work for Jehovahgasm survivor drones in the millenium. This was a future shovel ready project and would have helped the governing body print a good unemployment number.

IIRC they had an article about Love Canal, etc. saying those who pollute will be killed by jah. I don't have access to any vintage articles on the subject now.

Never do I recall hearing them teach they have an exception to the 'those who pollute will be destroyed' rule. In fact IIRC they were painting themselves with a haughty, holier-than-the-polluters brush back in the day.

the Creator of this planet, Jehovah God...has promised that soon he will "bring to ruin those ruining the earth." ( Revelation 11:18 ) After this necessary removal of irresponsible humans who pollute [wt website]

It's an easy flopper. Back then they poo poo all those nasty people ruinging the earth. They apparanttly did the same. The flop? That they did what was legal back then. It's still polluting.
