Hi Punk......It is very sad when relationships at home are so soured by one's relationship (or not) with the J W Congo.. Perhaps you should leave conspicuously around the house the recent WT about how believing wives have to especially nice to UBM's , to "win them over by fine conduct"
As an ex elder, you know that they followed the "Corporate procedure"... I agree that they so often do have a really pompous self-important attitude when you are on the wrong side of them...

See, again, I don't tend to think like others, so what caught MY eye is this, dear Punk (peace to you!):
We have had reports from several sources that you are now attending a church in Peterborough, and I am sure you will realise that if this is the case it is not compatible with your membership of the congregation.
Given that they call themselves "christians," and Christ is recorded to have said, "He that is not against you is for you,"... seems quite "damning" (of their claims to NOT be a "cult") to me. Then, there's this:
We would like now to resolve this matter, and this in mind we have arranged a meeting at... the Kingdom Hall... so that you can have an opportunity of making your position clear and we can hear firsthand what you wish to do. This meeting will be of ajudicial nature...
Given that they are NOT "masters over your FAITH"... as well as are not supposed to JUDGE... ANYTHING "before the due time, until the Lord arrives"... yet, admit the meeting is of a "judicial" nature... is daming of their claims to follow the Bible.
And this...
if you decide not to attend we reserve the right to make a decision in your absence.
In other words, you will have "defaulted," giving us the RIGHT to decide your fate. This is a LEGAL position, however, not a spiritual one! In fact, much of what they state in their letter insinuates the matter is of a "legal" nature, not a spiritual one. Which is quite interesting to ME. Does anybody else here see the potential liability to the "congregation" here? I am wont to think anyone who is of some accounts at "Mother Bethel", if any one, doesn't know about this letter... and wouldn't have approved/sanctioned it if they did.
I can't imagine the legal eagles at Bethel approving such a letter today. Smells like another case of "wolves gone rogue" to me... and/or, if they DO know of it, abandonment of yet another sheep (so as to be "snatched" BY the "wolf")... by the "hired man."
Knowing what I know now, had I received a letter like that, someone... in addition to the dear folks on this board... would know about it.
Again, my thinking...
I hope you and Ms. Punk are able to work out/through this sad state of affairs. Given her claim to be a "christian," she should be at the forefront... as someone who now has an "unbelieving" mate... and try to "win" you [back]... without a word.
Peace to you... and her!
A slave of Christ,

Your post is most interesting. I tend to agree with AGuest’s response above to your situation.
In addition, you stated that they said they “have had reports from several sources.” Let me ask you, Do you not have a god-given right to know from whom those “reports” came from? You know, at the mouth of two or three witnesses? Do you not have a god-given right to know whom your accusers are before any judicial procedure takes place? As well as to have those accusers present so that you can hear the accusations from their own mouths? Who wants to be condemned on mere “hearsay.” Do you?
We would like now to resolve this matter, and this in mind we have arranged a meeting at... the Kingdom Hall... so that you can have an opportunity of making your position clear and we can hear firsthand what you wish to do. This meeting will be of ajudicial nature...
Because this is now stated to be a meeting of a “judicial nature,” should they not present you with an official summons from the congregation (a letter on the congregation’s official letterhead) or a summons from the organization (a letter on the organization’s official letterhead). I mean, you can “ask” them for such just to bug them. And you can, again, request that your accusers be present if and when you do have a meeting with them after you’ve been summoned.
Also, you can ask them if the judicial meeting is, in fact, a judicial meeting whereby you will be judged and condemned or merely a meeting to “inquire” into things they have heard “rumored” or “gossiped” about by “Christians.” If they say they want to inquire into things heard then they are, in fact and in truth, forming an “inquisition.” Smacks of Roman Catholicism, does it not?
if you decide not to attend we reserve the right to make a decision in your absence .
So, they will make a “decision in your absence” if you don’t show. Interesting. So they have become the accusers too, as well as judges, jury, and executioner. How Christian of them. The fact of the matter is, no accusers present—no crime committed. Unless, of course, YOU admit to it.
Just some thoughts.

Sorry to hear you are having to deal with this. Even though we knew that if we ever left that's the treatment we'd get, it never occurs to you (since at the time you think you'll never leave) just how disgusting this is! I hope at the very least your wife comes around and stops the sanctamonious way she's treating you.
Always here for a chat if you need it

Over the years there have been a number who stopped associating with the congregation for one reason or another, and some of these have resumed their meeting attendance and service after a time, having missed the fine association with spiritually-minded individuals.
Well at least they are being honest. No one comes back because they are the TRUTH! LOL! Admissions of emotional blackmail hold up in court don't they?
