I guess the final verdict is that the year was 1918 and that they PASSED inspection ???

Actually, now it's a complete new spin...

"New light" at the Annual Meeting is that the inspection hasn't happened yet, so there was never any pass or fail to begin with.

When Does Jesus Appoint the Slave “Over All His Belongings”?

Jesus said that the “master on arriving” (literally, “having come”) will appoint the slave “over all his belongings.” When does the Master, Jesus, arrive?

The expression translated “on arriving” is a form of the Greek word er′kho·mai. Verses 42 and 44 of chapter 24 translate a form of er′kho·mai as “coming.” In those verses, Jesus is referring to his coming as Judge during the great tribulation.—Matthew 24:30; 25:31, 32.

Jesus’ appointment of the “slave” over his “belongings,” then, must also be a future event. He will make that appointment during the great tribulation.

I always the impression the inspection began in 1918 and ended in 1919. Remember the WTS says that all claiming to represent Christ were inspected, not just the WTS.

    *** w07 4/1 p. 22 par. 5 Loyal to Christ and His Faithful Slave ***

“On arriving” to inspect the “slave” in 1918, Christ found a spirit-anointed remnant of faithful disciples who since 1879 had been using this journal and other Bible-based publications to provide spiritual “food at the proper time.” He acknowledged them as his collective instrument, or “slave,” and in 1919 entrusted them with the management of all his earthly belongings.

    *** ip-2 chap. 27 p. 397 par. 14 Jehovah Blesses Pure Worship ***

In the modern-day fulfillment of these prophecies, there was an important spiritual development in 1918 in connection with Jehovah’s worship. Jehovah and Jesus evidently made an inspection of all of those claiming to represent pure worship. That inspection led to the final casting off of corrupt Christendom. For Christ’s anointed followers, the inspection meant a brief period of refinement followed by a swift spiritual restoration in 1919.

    *** re chap. 6 p. 32 Unlocking a Sacred Secret ***

As Jesus began his inspection in 1918, the clergy of Christendom no doubt received an adverse judgment. Not only had they raised up persecution against God’s people but they had also incurred heavy bloodguilt by supporting the contending nations during the first world war. (Revelation 18:21, 24) Those clergymen then placed their hope in the man-made League of Nations. Along with the entire world empire of false religion, Christendom had fallen completely from God’s favor by 1919.

    *** w07 4/1 p. 22 par. 4 Loyal to Christ and His Faithful Slave ***

The prophecy of Malachi foretold that Jehovah, “the true Lord,” accompanied by his “messenger of the covenant,” his newly enthroned Son, Christ Jesus, would come in judgment to inspect His “temple,” or spiritual house of worship. “The appointed time” for the ‘judgment of the house of God’ to begin evidently arrived in 1918. (Malachi 3:1; 1 Peter 4:17) Those claiming to represent God and his true worship on earth were duly examined. The churches of Christendom, who for centuries had taught God-dishonoring doctrines and had been heavily involved in the massacre of World War I, were rejected. A faithful remnant of spirit-anointed Christians were tested, refined as with fire, and approved, becoming to Jehovah “people presenting a gift offering in righteousness.”—Malachi 3:3.

    P. 11 of the July 15th, 2013 WT:

So a crucial question needed to be answered:
    Who among those groups were
the wheat? To settle that question, Jesus
began to inspect the spiritual temple
in 1914. That inspection and cleansing
work involved a period of time—from
1914 to the early part of 1919.[3]

    Endnote

Paragraph 6: [3] This is an adjustment
    in understanding. Previously, we thought
that Jesus’ inspection took place in 1918.

    Great point Ann!

Of course its easy now to 'see' that an invisible dude was invisibly inspecting the Bible students from heaven 99 years ago.

And what took so long Jeebus? Why five years of invisibly looking around to figure out that Chuckie Russell and Boozeford were la creme de la creme here on earth??????

Ann... Did you review all the Flip-Flops in the OP???

    Like this one?...

Since the “master” found the remaining ones of this body faithfully and discreetly giving out “food supplies” when he arrived for inspection in1919, he appointed them “over all his belongings.”

Yeah I know. Sometimes it's 1918, sometimes 1919. Like Jesus sitting down on his judgment throne to separate sheep from goats in 1918 ... which later came to be 1914-ish. The writer of the article probably homed in on the later, more commonly printed dates.
