I doubt the WTBTS demise is as soon as some would like to imagine. But how are they going to counter the huge negative impact of the internet? That is the real question. Here are some possibilities:-

    1. Develop their own filtering system which they can provide to JWs. Filtering will of course filter out the anti Watchtower sites as well as porn.

    2. Have free internet access in special "library rooms " in all local Kingdom Halls, with the filtering system in place. These would have an added bonus of attracting non-JWs. Free access to the internet to do homework, in a "safe"environment.

    3. Get attacking anti-Watchtower sites by overloading them with traffic, using jamming/blocking attacks.

    4. Change the name of the organisation to get rid of the bad publicity? All that bad stuff was the WTBTS, we are now the new Christian Last Days Society or some-ut.

    5. Issue more clear condemnations of child abuse, etc along with the name change.

    6. Unite with some other cults, try to get back the Bible Society groups, for starters, ut maybe move on to try to gobble up other cults such as the Christadelphians. Sounds a bit improbable I know, but if it brings in more property and cash then why not?

    7. Ensure that proclaiming the Kingdom is done by volunteers more than ever.

    8. Start a new publication alongside Awake and the Watchtower, which will be better researched, more upmarket.

Just a few ideas to revamp and to try and get some momentum back into the old dog.

Of course what they really need is to get another prophecy of Armageddon onto their radar pretty quick..... it always brings in great crowd, and stirs up the faithful... but are the rank and file willing to have another wake up call???

There is plenty going on in the world that should help them - Iran's nuclear programme; Russia's simmering resentment towards the USA, food prices, recession - there really is no excuse for the GB, there's plenty of opportunity to get the gullible in.

Yes ive often wondered why they dont just change names. It seems so simple and can only help. I doubt anybody seriously finds the JW based on past reputation or so on.

Well, I know now that at least some missionary homes are being sold and current missionaries will have to sort out their own accommodation. Some of the men might be appointed as circuit overseers in the countries they were assigned to. Apart from that I don't know if there will be any kind of continuing assignment.

This seems very rumor like to me. Any WT articles on this? I'm not sure this is true. They might discuss it, but that doesn't mean they'll do it.

Btw, as an aside, the absolute best source of JWrumors that aren't true but seem to live forever are from elders who think they know more than what they really do.

They can't stop if they really believe what they are preaching. So many countries still have no JWs and MILLIONS of people. So only those fortunate enough to be born into the correct countries, or will the doctrine change that Christ can be using others besides JW's and the bible really doesn't teach about one organized group, that those worldwide who have love among themselves and practicing and living the qualites of love Christ taught all encompass his people. If it remains only JW's then millions who will never hear anything are doomed for no good reason.

The Popes of Centuries past used to dream of Christianising the whole World, with the many set backs such a dream received they had to get used to the idea that it would not happen.

The same realisation will come to the WT, and with a few soothing words based on two things, i.e : not much and sod-all, they will assure the R&F that despite not being in a huge chunk of the World, and many millions never having even heard of the WT and JW's, the End is still sooooo close.

They will probably do this by quoting the principle of "Community Responsibility " and say "We as an Organization, have many times put the leaders of these people on Notice that Jehovah will judge them , if they ignore these strong warnings, they are responsible for what happens to their peoples"

They may temper this by adding "What Jehovah will do in His mercy subsequent to Armageddon in regard to those who have thus suffered because of evil leaders, we do not at present know, but we leave such matters in His loving hands".

The WT are the Masters of Spin, and JW's are mind-controlled to just lap it up.

They have been excusing their ineptitude at reaching at least 1/2 of the world's population with this old saw since at least the 1950's - no "will probably" needed, it's already done!
