'Hi S, could you perhaps expand upon that for me?? Thanks!'
I was just holding back a bit. Sometimes, we get people on who aren't totally what they say. It's easy for people to do that.

Jesus is not God. He is a minor spirit creature. Hard for me to understand. So JWs aren't Christian according to most standards.
1914- God, master of the universe, The Almighty, apppointed a published company in Brooklyn to be the sole organ for communication with humanity.
Armageddon, utter destruction, is around the corner at certain, specific times. God will destroy new born babies and the most elderly. His wrath has no limitation. ONly JWs in good standing will survive in any form.
Oral sex is a no, no-- even between married heterosexual couples. Only recently, married couples were supposed to tell on their spouse if this unholy, filty activity occurred.
The Bible is not capable of being read by someone with literacy. Rather, JWs literature must be studied and obeyed.
Obedience means more than obedience for normal people.
I hope your friend is very special to compensate for all this garbage.
This is the truth. If you want the varnished Truth, visit the Witnesses' official site.

Welcome! As you have no doubt noticed by now, this forum is far from being the official web site of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society (that being the corporate name of the religious group whose members are called Jehovah's Witnesses).
There are several good resources on the internet for learning about the Witness religion. I recommend freeminds.org, starting with the doctrine section. Since you're becoming romantically involved with a witness, also be sure to read the sociology section.

Hi there glad you posted. Timothy is a great guy and has recently stepped away from this religion. How this may affect you both well your boyfriend is going to need some love and support in the coming months and the reasons for this are as follows:
JWs take certain prohibitions very seriously in particular they feel that homosexuality is a sin and those that practice such things will be destroyed by god at Armageddon. They are taught that homosexuality is a learnt behaviour and an aberration. It is also a sin to celebrate holidays and birthdays, gamble, get drunk, pursue a career, attend college, watch occult movies, read Harry Potter, salute the flag, smoke, or declare that 7 men in Brooklyn do not represent God.
If a baptised member of the congregation comes out as a practicing homosexual they will be summoned to a judicial committee who will judge whether they are repentant. If the committee judges that someone is not sorry they will be disfellowshipped. This essentially means that the person should be shunned by all members of the religion including family and friends. Parents will be instructed to have nothing to do with them and JWs will ignore them in the street. Some parents do not follow this prohibition but many do. It can be an extremely traumatic experience since witnesses are told to forsake all friends who are not also JWs so in essence they isolate, humiliate and bully people into returning.
There is no room for negotiation with an active JW they will not behave like reasonable people because they are convinced they are right. They will not sympathise with your point of view. Their objective will be to convert you. They are a high control group and members of the congregation are taught that to make god happy they need to be active in field Service (going door to door looking for converts). They should study and prepare for meetings and that they cannot interpret the Bible without the assistance of the Watchtower publications. Studying outside the societies publications is frowned upon and the internet is prohibited. Witnesses are lazy about checking the publications andf take them at face value.
People like Timothy need a great deal of courage to walk away from their whole life and deserve to be happy. If born in he will never have celebrated his birthday or any holiday and will need help in learning how to participate in these holidays. My husband had never celebrated christmas and has no idea how to wrap gifts. I had to teach my children how to celebrate christmas and what to expect. It is possible Timothy has rarely received a wrapped gift.
Witnesses do not have family traditions around holidays except that they do not participate.
When people walk away they need to build their new life and they need to have a positive outlook being willing to embrace change. It may not be all plain sailing but they know from bitter experience the importance of true friendship and will not take it for granted.

Jackals, you're in the wrong place to learn anything true and genuine about Jehovah's Witnesses. This forum mainly consists of a group of individuals that have deviated from true worship and are apostate fighters of God.
But shun empty speeches that violate what is holy; for they will advance to more and more ungodliness, and their word will spread like gangrene. Hy·me·nae′us and Phi·le′tus are of that number. These very [men] have deviated from the truth, saying that the resurrection has already occurred; and they are subverting the faith of some. 2 Timothy 2:16-18
You will see foul mouths and evidence of ungodliness here. One of the more popular threads right now reads: An open letter to the Governing Body: Go F*ck YourselvesThe Bible and the Watchtower Society's publications provide excellent descriptions of apostates.
g03 2/8 p. 13 Is There an Unforgivable Sin?
Some people who were once faithful Christians have purposely drawn away from God, perhaps because of bitterness, pride, or greed, and are now apostate fighters against God’s spirit. They willfully oppose what the spirit is clearly accomplishing. Have these individuals committed the unforgivable sin? Jehovah is the final Judge.—Romans 14:12.
If you want to learn about Jehovah's Witnesses, I'd visit a local congregation and talk to the congregation elders. -

I don't believe your boyfriend is looking to convert you he is walking away from the religion and building a new life where people accept him for who he is.

Maze, why don't you tell him what the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society says about homosexuals and homosexuality before you send him to them?
Then tell him honestly what you think about it.
Then let him work out if you and they really have his best interests at heart.

oh be aware Maze supports the JW perspective and will take the usual hardline JW apporach of random quotations and judgement.

Maze,
They are gay! Gay means more than being a homosexual. Gay means being gay, in part. I can't begin to imagine Jesus' condemning homoseuxality were he to live today. Jesus was about love and acceptance. Homosexuality isn't a sexual orientation that one chooses. You are born gay.
Maze, are you reporting that you visit and post at this site. I would be willing to report your activity if it is too hard for you to do.
I was raised the worse thing to be was gay. Now I see great beauty when gay men embrace in a nonsexual way in church. They are only people born with a different sexual practice. No abomination, travesty. Just people.
