I'd love to see them wither to nothing but my intuition tells me that they will rebound at some point in time. All you need is an increase in world crises, which I believe will happen for reasons that they cannot conceive at the moment.

Yes; the WORD avatar, in Hinduism, may have meant the human surrogate for a devil or spirit; of course, the modern usage is an online icon or symbol for a real person.
It is the mark of ignorant fundamentalism to consider that the movie Avatar has anything to do with demonism. It is an environmental fable; it is a story of the abuse of the earth and environment by large business interests. It is the story of someone assuming an innocent facade to dupe unsuspecting and trusting simple people, with the goal of taking what belongs to all.l
Yes it has a tree of life in it; so does the bible, so does virtually every other culture since the dawn of time.
There was an email that got sent around by the witnesses to the effect that Avatar was demonistic, obviously by someone who had never seen the movie.
It was nearly identical to other fundamentalist emails about Avatar that went around.
It is kind of funny, but it seems that American JWism is more extreme than its Scandinavian counterpart.
I guess because fundamentalism and religious extremism is way more widespread over there anywhere and
puritanism and prudity have much more support there anyway.
I also heard about Avatar being mentioned once. And they never fail to mention the latest Vampire movies/shows. Yep, nothing more demonistic than shite that doesn't even exist and was invented by the Catholic Church hundreds of years ago to emplain why the hell so many people were burried alive. No. It's them damn demons, all right...
Regarding the general attitude of the elders towards low performing brothers:
- I think that it suits many elders and ministerial servants to always have low performing publishers around.
Having somebody to put down -and in the JW world, who better to put down than a "weak" publisher- makes others feel good.
After all, if you were to mentor all the low performing brothers, they might even end up out-performing you:
- then not only would you be without anybody to rubbish; but you, too, might end up as the one being rubbished.
Definitely cannot have the status quo of the Old Boys Club being disrupted in such a manner as that!

Children have no right to privacy? I suppose they are always conspiring to do wrong. Every recording is that "bad" song they are not supposed to be listening to. Every page they wish to visit on their computer is porn. Every phone call is a "date" and will lead to fornication. Everything they do at school has to do with the flag salute, fornication, and/or a holiday celebration or they are going to start using drugs. Even within their own room, they are always masturbating or planning on doing fornication or other forbidden activity.
Which is not right. I wonder what would happen if you give a 13-year old a computer, that sits in their own room. Most of the visited web pages will be clean--if you don't keep pushing the issue, they are not very likely to be watching porn at that age (just put a filter in the computer that makes it difficult to access adult content). And, if there weren't so damn many stupid rules, there would be much less need to closely supervise children. Even the drugs--if children are kept busy learning things (and the education indoctrination you get in school is not the right way), they are not going to want to take drugs. Really, the only rules you need are against first-strike offensive acts against others or their property--and you are going to pretty quickly find out if that is going on without major invasions of their privacy.
Now, if the children deserve their privacy, the government doesn't. Those making the rules do not have any right to privacy in doing so, because people are going to be affected. Are they claiming to abide by the Bible? They need to make the rules in the open, right in front of people that will scrutininze those rules with that same Bible. The same with the government and the Constitution. Individuals need privacy--ruling bodies do not.
Reason why bros not reaching out...they have been adversely influenced ny the entertainment industry..
