I could see how many ones who have continued in the cult all these years having mental problems.

I should probably clairify this. Don't mean to imply the avg. R&F JW is a mental nut. Just the the burden of the religion's requirements on it's members can cause undue pressure & depression that most people are not subjected to. The constant sense of urgency and the hammer of Armaggedon being dropped on you if you are not good enough is the main drivers of this.

I don't think being a JW causes mental illness

I have to disagree, but I'm a born-in, so...a little biased. Maybe you're right, but I still say it sure as heck doesn't help to prevent mental illness or ease it if it's already there.

Maybe the mentally ill might be more readily influenced, but even those who are not can be manipulated, too. Or maybe we all were. Meh.

They should use the internet more, link their message up with porn sites and rescue all those addicted to porn. Link to apostate sites and rescue all those being adversely affected by apostates and so on.

I can recall how the District Convention would be a tremendous "boost" to my sense of urgency. It would wear off, just in time for a Special Assembly Day or Circuit Assembly. Rinse, repeat.

It's nice to be OFF the merry-go-round.

I have noticed this... Seems like my family that is still in has been being pushed more. Some have responded by pioneering, talking more to me and others by fading.

Sad, it's like watching a drowning person refuse to take the weights off and swim.

The message the WBT$ continually Changes is Urgent?..

    Who needs a WBT$ Literature with a message,that Jehovah`s Witness`s won`t believe in after a few years?..

How many Jehovah`s Witness`s to you see RUNNING from house to house, with the WBT$ Urgent Message?

If you ask tough questions when a JW comes to the door..They say they are busy and have to leave..

    LOL!!..

The Real Message of Jehovah`s Witness`s is..

"Good morning!..I don`t know what I believe today..And..I`m too busy to talk to you..Good Bye!"..

If getting the word out is so urgent....why is so much time spent going door to door when one television broadcast/commercial would reach millions around the globe ? The word would be spread world wide in a matter of minutes. Even a simple announcement via television, explaining the message JW's are spreading would be a headstart toward the householders understanding of what those poeple at their front dour are saying. The preaching work in Bible times was considered "Urgent" but spreading it door to door was the only way they could do it. Why is it still being done this way?

Bingo! We have a winner. They have hundreds of millions at their disposal. Possibly a billion or more! What are they doing with that money? They use tiny fractions of it to print magazines that are eventually thrown in the trash by JWs and householders.

If Jesus saw how "urgent" the GB is at getting the word out, he would laugh in their face!

The pressure may be there, but I notice, based on my facebook friends, that they are finding new and better ways to blow off steam....

When they go door-to-door now they're supposed to ask for donations to the worldwide work. I am not sure a lot do this as I imagine it would make a lot feel too uncomfortable.

    LOL @ Outlaw! So true.

I am sure most JWs hope like heck they don't meet someone at the door who knows more about the Bible than they do.
