As of today , it is illegal in Mass. and for good reason, although I have been guilty of it.

Nope, never. And never will.
I am guilty of having talked on the phone. Don't like to and avoid it as much as possible, but once in a while it happens.
I detest the practice of talking on phones, texting, eating, reading, applying makeup, shaving (things I've seen people do more than a few times) or whatever else you can think of instead of driving. These people are the scourge of the road. That and mini-vans...

I'll talk on the phone or to another person in the car but I always have my eyes on the road.

Texting is definitely one of the biggest distractions for most drivers I see. Scary...

Traffic deaths are down in the U.S, over the past several years.
Texting doesn't make driving safer, so the safety features on our cars must be getting better and better.

Never texted, never used the phone whilst driving either. I don't even play loud music whilst driving.
Anybody who thinks they can is an idiot.

There was a traffic fatality in my area recently where a driver was texting and didn't see traffic stop in front of them
I was in traffic the other day and the driver in front of me was texting. I didn't know it at first but at every light that turned green he just sat there until I blew the horn at him. This happened three intersections in a row. When I finally got the chance to get around him I glanced over and sure enough, his dumbass was texting.
Cellphone users aren't much better. I ride a motorcycle. If I see a driver on a cellphone I give them wide berth becasue invariably they're gonna do something stupid. I saw a car at side road waiting to turn out. The driver was on a cellphone. She kept looking right and left trying to find a gap to turn left through. I was on the bike, I saw the phone in her left hand and knew that her field of vision was decreased because of her arm/hand/phone. I started slowing down just in case... and sure as shit, she pulled out in front of me because she didn't see me. She was looking for cars, not motorcycles. Part of it was not being aware, part of it was being distracted.
In case you haven't figured it out yet, bad drivers and distracted drivers is a pet peeve of mine...
