But he looked absolutely nuts. He visited a farm and was kissing all the fruit to bless it. Everyone laughed as if it was "cute". Seriously, I was disturbed. I remember sitting there thinking, "These people are nuts!"

People of the 1930s era that actually did believe that King David lunacy have told me that same thing around the 1960s - they laughed it off because they thought it was "cute" and maybe just a little off in a grandfatherly old man sort of way.

It is important to remember that this was exactly at the same time that the name JW was invented and that the Great Crowd/Remnant doctrine was created - the exact same time.

And they really believed King David was going to be coming back to life and walk up to the door at Beth Sarim.

This is crazy! I told my husband about this awhile ago and he brushed it off. If this was any other religion, he would think they were totally NUTS!!!

Looking forward to reading about Franz.

Rutherford knew he was running a racket and that he hadn't real substantial evidence of these men returning

but he had to convince that the publishing company (WTS.) was a real religion of sorts to keep the government

looking at the WTS solely as a religion. The lawyer knew how to Bullshit and keep the interest on to the

WTS publishings. What he did was expand Russell's bullshit, to convince the public that the end was near

and that conscientious smart people should become a member of the organization and start in the door to door

proselytizing. Which entailed putting people under their thumbs so to speak.

    Love the body guard. LOL

    JUDGE RUTHERFORD

    ARRIVES.

    Uniformed Bodyguard.

Judge Rutherford, leader of the Interna-
tional Bible Students' Association, arrived by
the Mariposa yesterday, accompanied by a
    bodyguard-a former police sargeant-wearing
a braided cap, red shirt, and knee breeches.

When Judge Rutherford walked down the
wharf to the Customs shed he was loudly
cheered by a section of the large crowd, and
many people held up their hands in salute.

There were more cheers in the street out-
side when Judge Rutherford drove away in a
motor car with his bodyguard standing on
    the running board.

Judge Rutherford travelled in one of the
Mariposa's luxury suites, with a private deck.
He is accompanied by two secretaries.

In an interview he said that if he was unable
to obtain a hall in which to speak he would
address meetings in the open if necessary. He
denied that he had ever attacked the British
Empire. He said he was as much opposed
to Communists as he was to Fascists.

Judge Rutherford was met by Mr. A. Mac
Gillivray, of Strathfield, his Australian re-
    presentative.

Mr. MacGillivray said he had arranged to
take the Sports Ground at Moore Park for an
    open-air meeting.

    Judge Rutherford, whose teachings
have been the subject of contro-
    versy, photographed on his arrival
in Sydney in the Mariposa yesterday.

If nothing else convinces me it's all a sham then this does!! He was either a charismatic deluded nutcase or else he was so shrewd he managed to get himself a luxury lifestyle that cost him nothing! Maybe it was both!

The fact that people believed every word he said is a scary thought. The fact that I believed it all is even scarier!!

A snake oil salesman if ever there was one.

The Higher Ups, are ALL corrupt and excellent at cover-ups.

The GB 7, now, with Guy Pierce dead... know their Watch Tower history.

That is why they do not want anyone bringing up early history.

    Especially, Rutherford history.

    Sickening.
