jws are what you would call a futurist religion.most of evangelicals are of the same ball of wax that emerged since the early 1800s.they are just a bit more strict than most.

“CONTRARY to the accusations against them, Jehovah’s Witnesses are not an “apocalyptic sect” or a “doomsday cult.” They do, however, accept the Apocalypse, or book of Revelation, as part of the inspired Word of God. True, Revelation does contain judgment messages against the wicked. But in their public witnessing, God’s servants focus mainly on the wonderful hope set out in the Bible, including that in the Apocalypse, or Revelation. Thus, they do not add to or take anything away from the prophetic words found therein.”w99 12/1 p.9

''Well, the WATCHTOWER says we are NOT so it must be true'' mentality

By linking the words, 'sect' and 'cult' to the words, they automaticly distance themselves from them as distastful and repugnant to all JW readers. Thus they will never want to actually dig into the words meanings and uses either.

It's strange how Bane can make a comment here but can't answer my question about the eye being too complex to have been created.

Turn to the page in the original Truth Book that has the arrow pointing to 1975 as the End or turn to the pages in the Paradise Book with the graphic cartoons depicting Armageddon.

Like the Fundamentalists who try to downplay Hell the Society can try and soft peddle the Big A but that's at the core of both groups.

Lipstick on a pig is just that.................

The Watchtower is a cheap little pamphlet that make a vast profit for the corporation that owns it. It is printed to order with a guaranteed take up of every copy. Its members buy it with their own money and then distribute most of the copies free.

This enables them to prove their love and obedience to Jehovah. They are driven by fear and greed. Fear of Jehovah and Armageddon and greed for everlasting life in Paradise. Like all religion, it's a snare and a racket. The Watchtower's very own words!

    From wikipedia:

An Apocalypse (Greek: ?ποκ?λυψις Apokálypsis; "lifting of the veil" or "revelation") is a disclosure of something hidden from the majority of mankind in an era dominated by falsehood and misconception, i.e. the veil to be lifted.

Yup, the WTBS is apocalyptic, their theology is dependent on God revealing himself through the GB

"Doomsday cult" is a term used to describe groups obsessed with Apocalypticism and Millenarianism

    I'd say so.

Is revelation not part of the Bible then? Or Jesus for that matter?

    Matthew 24:21-22 (New International Version)

21 For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again 22 If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.
