The chicken trusted in her own heart which can be treacherous and did not turn to research in her Watchtower Library nor in the appointed men of Jehovah's organization to show her the error of 'crossing the road.' The faithful and discreet slave has been informing us of the dangers on the other side of the road for decades now. When one is standing strongly on this side of the road, they must watch out that they don't develop an attitude of complacency and think they can manage the other side of the road on their own, they should beware that they don't fall prey to Satan's crafty acts which make the opposite side of the road look so inviting. Satan not only owns the other side but the entire road.
