Last week (I left on 5-17-10) I was sent to Juneau to work I took about 5 GB worth of pictures and a few short video clips. The camera was a Nikon coolpix L22, it's a pretty decent little camera. Unfortunately it had a dust spot or two under the lens. It didn't kill my photos but it was annoying. I had Just picked up the camera the week before I left and I replaced it as so as I returned home.

If you're not familiar with Juneau, it's in Alaska and it rains a lot and it's the state capitol.

This mountain sits right behind the capitol city

This shot was taken looking back to where the prior one was taken. I was standing in the parking lot of the tan building on the left and 3rd up from the bottom.

In the back ground is part of Douglas.

    This is downtown Juneau.

The first docking location for cruise ships is very close

This photo was taken from inside the Red Dog Saloon in downtown Juneau. I have no idea if the claim stated in the display is historically accurate, either way it's fun.

Few Americans know that Janau is the state capitol. Most think Anchorage. Visiting Alaska is my long time dream. I always thought I would visit it in the New System, but guess that's not gonna fly...

This shot is from atop of the building I was working on I'm about 10 miles from downtown Juneau. In the back ground is Mendenhall Glacier.

This is a panoramic taken from the same spot

This is a panoramic taken from right in front of that glacier. That white on the right is a water fall

If this plays it is a short clip of that water fall. I held a 8X21 binocular over the lens to get closer to the subject.

I wish I'd have just stayed on the fall but I didn't

When it was time to go home I drove the truck I was working with onto this, it is the M/V Kennicott. It's one of two Alaska Marine Hi-way System ferry's that is capable of open ocean travel. It's just under 400 feet long, 85 feet wide and powered by 2-6600 hp engines
