This dude is obviously trolling for attention and a spectacle, and what's worse, you're helping him. Can't we all just ignore the blatant baiting?

Yes, how dare Blue Grass question one of the elders. Who does s/he think they are???

based on some of the responses on this thread I get the feeling even if I had jut politely questioned Terry some would tell me my post count is too low to question him or I don't have enough seniority to questions what he says. I thought I was done with the BS of "ranking" people based on numbers(hours in field service) and how long they been a member of this board(the organization) . For ex-jws I guess old habits die hard.

(SMILE) People... are people, dear BlueGrass (again, peace to you!). Inside of the WT... and outside of it. One thing I've learned... inside AND out... is the wisdom in the proverb: "Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to be offended, for the take of offense is what lies in the bosom of the stupid ones." Proverbs 7:9

Please don't take that statement personal - it was not intended that way but as something to consider. Indeed, on this Board, I would say to you don't take ANYTHING personal. Really... you can't. Because there is every kind of personality on this Board... and virtually every kind of opinion. In YOUR opinion, you "saw" something and asked if others did, as well. As it turns out, some didn't. Doesn't mean your perception is wrong or invalid. You are entitled to it. Alternatively, however, you have to accept that perhaps what YOU perceive about dear Terry is not what others perceive.

Also, folks here have a penchant for sticking up for those they love. Another freedom the WT didn't allow. And just wait - it'll happen for you, one day, too. You'll say something spot on... and someone who disagrees or doesn't see it quite like you do will ridicule YOU... and/or question your sincerity... and someone who "knows" you will speak up. FOR you. Like dear Broken Promises seems to be trying to do. And you will be grateful.

Tell you what: if you really want to take issue with someone whose posts seem "too good to be true," come on over and visit one of mine - ! I mean, what I post when I'm not "on my own" IS true... always (because what they contain isn't mine but what I receive from my Lord - but that's another subject entirely)... but many ("new" and "old") don't believe that and so take exception to them. You will find a couple/few (and I LOVE them!) who will call such ones out regarding their... well, sometimes unkind words used when taking me to task. But I don't mind the... ummm... skepticism (well, unless the bank has stupidly messed with my checking account, which does tend to bring out the worst in me). But so long as you don't get too mean or rude (in which case, I might just "say something" )... come on over.

Otherwise, chin up. You felt how you felt... and voiced it. And some disagreed with you ... and voiced it. No difference, really. Right?

    Again, peace to you!

YOUR servant and a slave of Christ,

    SA

Aguest, I checked your first thread, and realized the responses you get now are exactly the same as the responses you got nine years ago. I admire your persistence. Peace to you.

I don't always agree with Terry, but he makes a valuable contribution to the board. Let me add, he is always polite!

    +++ 100%.

I just re-read a thread on capitalism vs socialism in which this poster called Terry out for B.S. because he related how a former wife had learned several languages by taking part in an educational program at her work.

This is just the same as calling someone a liar - it is just a personal insult and served no purpose in the subject of that thread.

As BTS just said above, perhaps some politeness needs to be learned, and very quickly.

I agree that some of Terry's story are amazing. But without knowing him personally, I wouldn't presume to call him a liar, especially publicly as you have done. Perhaps you could give us an example of such a story of his that you believe to be BS, and why you think so.

Like the Gospel writers, Terry uses some didactic technique to improve his threads, which are nonetheless based on the historical happenings of the Life Of Terry.

This doesn't make him a liar.

I eagerly await the next installment of the Gospel According To Terry!

I have a pretty good memory. I don't think I knowingly change the content or wording of personal conversations.

I have a decent writing style and think I can make myself understood. But, AM I MAKING STUFF UP??

    No way.

What you may want to understand about me is this: I'm a counter-puncher in conversation. One on one. It comes naturally to me.

Somebody says something I'm right back in there with a retort. It is the smart-alec kid in me. It's always been there.

But, I've had my ears boxed more than a few times; especially here on JWN!

When I get too big for my britches or go outside my boundries I've been coldcocked by great thinkers like Narkissos, hillary_step, Pole, Leolia, and others smarter than I.

I don't mind being wrong. It is the only time you really know you have learned something!

    But, lying?

    Definitely not!

Feel free to challenge me on my details. If I'm wrong we'll both find out together.

(Edited to say: I appreciate those who have defended me. It means alot to me. Thank you!)
