Is Watchtower Literature inspired?

    Alan,

: What is so hard for you to understand here?

The claim that the GB is not inspired, and does not claim to be, is made so fervently in order to defend the sacred notion that the GB alone speaks for God. For if it were inspired then obvviously it couldn't speak for God. Since it does speak for God ergo it cannot be inspired. Nor can it claim to be inspired. That's whence it derives its authority to act like it's inspired from.

A mind that can grasp that should be able to grasp anything :-)

Just in case some think the R&F weren't encouraged make certain decisions ....
BEFORE 1975 (the end of 6,000 years of human history)

    KMIN May 1974 pg 3
"HOW ARE YOU USING YOUR LIFE?
...Yes, the end of this system is so very near! Is that not reason to increase our activity?.........In fact, over 27 percent of the material in the Gospels is devoted to just the last week of Jesus' earthly ministry!...By carefully and prayerfully examining our own circumstances, we also may find that we can spend more time and energy in preaching during this final period.........A 34-percent increase! Does that not warm our hearts? Reports are heard of brothers selling their homes and property and planning to finish out the rest of their days in this old system in the pioneer service. Certainly this is a fine way to spend the short time remaining before the wicked world's end..

    AFTER 1975 WT Jul 15 1976
"It may be that some who have been serving God have planned their lives according to a mistaken view of just what was to happen on a certain date or in a certain year....If anyone has been disappointed through not following this line of thought, he should now concentrate on adjusting his viewpoint, seeing that it was not the word of God that failed or deceived him and brought disappointment, but that his own understanding was based on wrong premises.

Yet 2 months before in WT May 15/76 pg 298
"It is a serious matter to represent God and Christ in one way, then find that our understanding of the major teachings and fundamental doctrines of the Scriptures was in error, and then after that, to go back to the very doctrines that, by years of study, we had thoroughly determined to be in error. Christians cannot be vacillating - Wishy washy - about such fundamental teachings. What confidence can one put in the sincerity or judgement of such persons?"
    (thats not tacking is it?)

BUT 3 MONTHS BEFORE THIS THEY SAY WT feb15/76pg214
"Would not a failure to respond to direction from God through his organization really indicate a rejection of divine rulership?"

I don't believe someone will be disfellowshipped for not agreeing 100% with the GB. The problem is the attitude and if that person is now preaching to other members of the congregation their own ideas, not based on the Bible.

    YoYoMama,

Here's an experiment - everytime you can at meetings etc, mention that a Creative Day is 7000 years long. Don't say "thousands" say 7000. That is still current truth by the way.

Also, would you be so kind and willing as to find out if the WTS still teaches that a CD is exactly 7000 years long? Then report back to us.

This is a serious request - I'm very curious about this issue.

    Thanks,

    LPH

We would do best to follow the Bible's clear advice about listening to anyone claiming to represent God or Christ --

Beloved ones, do not believe every inspired expression, but test the inspired expressions to see whether they originate with God, because many false prophets have gone forth into the world. -- 1 John 4:1

Now the latter were more noble-minded than those in Thes·sa·lo·ni'ca, for they received the word with the greatest eagerness of mind, carefully examining the Scriptures daily as to whether these things were so. -- Acts 17:11

And many false prophets will arise and mislead many. -- Matt. 24:11

For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will give great signs and wonders so as to mislead, if possible, even the chosen ones. -- Matt. 24:24

So Jesus started to say to them: "Look out that nobody misleads YOU." --Mark 13:6

It has often been said that there is nothing worst to use during an argument than a BAD ILLUSTRATION

now let's take alook at YOYO MAMA attempt to explain away the unexplainable

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well I will illustrate: What does the White House spokeperson do? Well he addresses the media on many issues concerning the President.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

    ## so far so good##

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
He represents, at that point, President Bush.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

    ## now this is where the JW argument gets real weak- you see when
Ari Fleischer - The Press Secretary --steps in front of the White House Press cor; there is NOT ONE PERSON IN THAT ROOM WHO QUESTIONS as to whether he is authorized to stand before them-

now constrast that with wt --the only folks who don't question the FDs are JW who have been told not to- can you imagine the nATIONAL PRESS cor being to not to question if this man has the right to stand in front of them####

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
When So what he says, is as the President were saying it.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

##NOW THIS IS very powerful cause now we see him saying that WE SPEAK FOR GOD HIMSELF and we all know in order to do that you need inspiration and they claim no inspiration##

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
Can the spokeperson make a mistake and say something he shouldn't? Of course,
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

##yes the white house spokesman can do that-but not a spokesman for god and his next comment reveals why##

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
then the President would ask "what did you say that for?, you should stick to what we've told you".
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

    ## Perhaps so , but he would lose his job after a couple of blunders since so much is riding on him getting the message right- same with wt 6 billion folks lives ride on them getting it right

this is a very interesting phrase:

"you should stick to what we've told you"

now that would be ok if it were not for the fact that they claimed that their last understanding was thru NEW LIGHT AND NOW THIS NEW UNDERSTANDING IS THRU NEW LIGHT

    now what is it???###

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
Then the spokeperson would go in front of the media and make the correction of his statement.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

Could you please Produce Corrections that say we were wrong on the 1914, 1925, 1975, blood fraction, transplants, alternative service and most recently the gen of 1914 not dying off-

instead they have blamed the "Press" as it were by saying:

Some in their eagerness, some speculated, etc they have always blamed the rank and file instead of saying the FDS got it wrong

when a dogma is shown to be wrong they try to spread the blame thur out the jw community, instead of just at the top where the dogma started off at in the first place###

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
    "Similarily"
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

    ## this word above has to be the most MISUSED WORD in the JW dictionary- where they will make a long drawn out statement about an issue and then attempt to TIE IT INTO something that doesn't even fit with such as :

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
the Faithful and Discreet Slave represents Jehovah here on earth.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

##the above is the funniest -for it is true cause "WE SAY SO"-- great argument##

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
Their publications are based on the Bible, so it's as if Jehovah were saying it.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

    ## Well we have pointed out on many occasions that despite demanding that their members and mankind believe it is based on the bible we have seen so many examples to show it was merely the guesses of men###

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
Can that slave class make mistakes? Yes, and Jehovah is probably thinking to himself "Where did they get that from? Who told them to say that?",
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

    ## well according to the Wt everything they say Jah told them to say it --I guess they lied-- and he sums it all up by saying:###

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
"In that sense, the Witnesses have the guidance of Jehovah by means of his holy spirit."
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

    ## did we not go thru that "SENSE" THANG here last week

AND OF course what make his illustration so weak is the fact that the Press are ALLOWED TO CHALLENGE EVERY SINGLE DAMN THING HE SAYS

A unlike a jw who is caught challenging almost anything

never are the press cor thrown out for questioning the wt house spokesman- yet try that in wt world

so YOYO MAMMA tell your next bible student that he too can Question anything just like the press cor as one of jw

    YEA RIGHT

    YO YO MAMA

    SAYS

if that person is now preaching to other members of the congregation their own ideas, not based on the Bible
    -------

EXCELLENT POINT but what IF THEY WERE TEACHING SOMETHING BASED ON THE BIBLE should they continue to teach and believe something that the bible doesn't teach- exp gen of 1914 you and i know that it was never supported by the bible yet you and i were told it was

so was the GB merely "teaching their own ideas"

was it ok for them to teach thier own ideas- as you have stated the publications are not inspired being that is the case all we have is one guys opinion vs another guys opinion

not too much based on the bible i guess
