Other than that its really something they have to work out for themselves, if you are true friend to her that's really what you have to do, i.e. not fill her mind with your ideas beyond encouraging her to work it out with him. Though being a guy I doubt he can go without a "pressure release" longer than a week. Now why he finds his hand more appealing than his wife's vagina would probably have more to do with his psychological state. I guess if she saw him browsing porn compulsively then maybe he is battling something from his past or something, at least that what experts say.

To answer your question, there are at least 2 possibilities.

(1) He has some sort of hidden problem obviously. Could be cheating. Could be psychological. Could be a hundred things

(2) She's a major league pain in the ass and he's too lazy to leave. Don't laugh, it happens fairly frequently I beleive.

Either he's just not into her for sex or they're just friends with occasional benefits. If he doesn't have a problem with how things are now and she's feeling hurt and neglected she should seriously think about whether he's really the guy for her. Sex isn't everything but when you're not getting enough it seems like it is.
