Those Whose Faith is in the Bible as the Word of God..
SSsss, oh, ummmmm... sorry, dear Frankie (and, of course, peace to you!), but I "fried" my audio card (at least, I think that's what I did... and what you call it) years ago. For that reason, I haven't viewed/listened to... ANY video... much less a YouTube... ummm "presentation"... on my computer... in YEARS. I have only seen what is repeated on the news (which I watch routinely), Oprah (which I watch maybe 1-2xs a month, if that) or those "entertainment" shows (which I HATE - they're SO "gossipy" but every now and again something'll catch my eye as I'm "surfing" through the channels.
I have seen the one about the dancing wedding processsion (that was cool! I'd like that at my funeral!)... the baby "dancing" to Beyonce's "Single Ladies" (SO cute, but really, what baby doesn't like to "get down funky" from time to time?) And those Asian boys lip syncing to... oh, shoot, can't remember if it was the BSB's or NKOB... ah, well, some "boy" band). But that's it. The sum total, all three of 'em, of what I've seen on YouTube.
SOOoooo, if you want ME to get your point, you will need to type something. A little narrative of each video should do. No need to go in too deep - I know what you're TRYING to say. And I probably can't disagree with your skepticism as a result. I totally understand. Praise JAH... I DO hear the voice of my Lord... and so don't have to put my faith in what ANY of these "yahoos" have to say about it!
Peace to you!
Slave of Christ,
Sorry to hear about your sound card you really oughta get that fixed there is so much you miss with all the good documentaries on the net,, which are so informative. You re really missing a lot. TV too has changed a lot with all the science and history channels to choose from,, oprah is a bore to me along with so much bs from her sponsored Dr. Phil I almost rate him in the same class as Judge Judy as far as helpful and informative.
I'm not a prolific writer and much rather contribute some well made videos on subject,, to me it saves time and provides information not just for the avid reader but to those not so inclined or who's reading comprehension skill have not been that finely honed through extensive use. While I realize you started the thread the videos were not mainly for you but for "Those Whose Faith is in the Bible as the Word of God.."as your theme stated, (provide they have a sound card which I'm sure 99.9% do).
I do think that these videos are quite educational,,a lot more so than anything I would take the time to write, as my time is very limited both for extensive research on the subject discussed and the time to write long missives about the discussed subject in your thread.
As far as the voices you hear in your head as being more informative than these videos, well that is a very subjective evaluation since you already are convinced they are superior to the videos you haven't even heard yet.
This I think is one of the mentally crippling things about faith,, is it shuts ones mind off from a reality or from a clearer understanding when the facts don't match up with ones faith. I'm sure you can agree to a certain extent that this is true when it come to faith in the bible as the word of god and how such faith gets in the way of a more clearer and accurate understanding of what the bible really is and who wrote it.
As far as the voices you hear in your head as being more informative than these videos...
You misunderstand me, on both fronts: he doesn't speak in my head, dear one (oh, and peace to you, of course!), nor am I saying he is more informative than your videos (though I don't doubt it, but I didn't even "go there"). My point was that what he says... and what the viddeos depict... are probably pretty much one and the same thing. Technically, not literally.
well that is a very subjective evaluation since you already are convinced they are superior to video you haven't even heard yet.
Not superior. Just, well, redundant.
This I think is one of the mentally crippling things about faith is shuts ones mind off from a reality or from a clearer understanding when the fact don't match up with ones faith.
Blind faith, yes. My faith is neither blind... nor deaf. BUT... so as to give you the benefit of the doubt, you think your videos will show me WHY I should believe the Bible IS the Word of God? That I can view them with a RATIONAL mind... and that's is the conclusion I will come to?
I'm sure you can agree to a certain extent that this is true when it come to faith in the bible as the word of god and how it gets in the way of a more clearer and accurate understanding of what the bible really is and who wrote it.
Indeed, I do. So, I ask you again: do you really believe your videos will convince me that the Bible IS the Word of God? Or, was your point in including them as I believed it to be: to show just how RIDICULOUS such a belief is? If the former, your posts don't corroborate that belief, so I am confused and perhaps you should explain. If the latter, however... well, again, it's redundant... in light of what my Lord has already told me and shown me... and so, I am actually missing nothing. Other than the fact that you just WANT me to view them. Right? Which, again, I cannot do as my sound card (which I don't feel the need to fix) is broken.
I bid you peace... and a GOOD night's sleep!
Your servant and a slave of Christ,
I do not believe the bible is the word of god, and the video documentary does not give proof that it is either but to the contrary and I might say it does so with grace and non bombastic reasoning that should appeal to the more honest hearted bible thumper.
here is a summation clip and paste of the doc: who wrote the bible by robert beckford:
In the new documentary, Beckford, a committed pentecostal Christian, describes a journey he made to some of Christianity's holiest places to help him uncover the provenance of the Bible. He calls his conclusion an 'earth-shattering experience' and one that made him doubt some of his most basic Christian beliefs. Of the Old Testament, Beckford declares: 'The so-called law of Moses turns out to be the work of many human hands. What I once thought was the word of God was now beginning to sound like something out of Stalin's Russia.'
He produces archaeological evidence to suggest the Bible's claims that the kingdoms of David and Solomon dominated the 10th century BC were wrong, an error that raises profound claims about the genesis of Christianity.
He declares the New Testament a 'masterwork of spin written by people who were nowhere near the events they describe, all gathered by powerful editors who kept out ideas they did not like'.
The story of the nativity is also doubted. Beckford argues that Matthew added the story to fulfil a prophecy made in the Old Testament.
One of the most revealing moments comes when Beckford visits the US state of Georgia to talk to President Bush's spiritual adviser, baptist minister Richard Land. Land dismisses as 'rubbish' suggestions that the Bible is inaccurate and cannot be the basis for political decisions. 'When you stand in judgment of scripture, that is a theology of death,' says Land, who has called for Iraq to be 'flooded' with US troops.
So, then, I was correct: redundant. Listen, dear Frankie (and the greatest of peace to you!)... I don't know who among man is right or wrong in and of myself. I mean, who am I? I'm not a great scholar or intellect. I don't know "jack," truly. BUT... I know the One who does. If, then, that One ALWAYS tells me the truth... and ALWAYS tells me what's true... why would I need to compare what HE says... to what certain others say? That most of "them" lie... to one extent or another is, well, a given. I don't ascribe to the form of "christianity" OR godly devotion... that ANY of these folks do. Nor to I totally dismiss God and Christ as some of them do. Surely, you know that by now. And I've recently made 50. Not a WHOLE lot of time left for life, given my family "genetics." Not that I plan on going anywhere anytime soon... but I don't intend to waste NOT ONE MINUTE of what I have left.
And simply listening to earthling man and his various opinions about whether the Bible IS the Word of God... or it isn't... and whether "christianity" is a/the true religion... or isn't... really ISN'T a good use of my time, right now. I have NO idea who ANY of these people are. But I can tell you with a certainty that if I went up to any one of them and said, "Hi, my name is Shelby and I'm a slave of Christ," not one of them would give ME the time of day.
SO... I'm not going to give any one of them too much of MY time... and what you've written here is plenty. Rather, I am going to stick to those who apparently my Lord believes is worthy of HIS time... those here who are thirsting... and a few others... and ask your kind patience with that. There's just too much... and too many... out there... and I am too small... and too insignificant... to care. Because of that, I have lto eave such things... and such ones... to my Lord.
I bid YOU peace, however.
A slave of Christ,
Mt 17:1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, 2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.
Luke 9:28 And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray. 29 And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering.
The answer is simple and anyone that is familiar with parallel or harmony translations would know it. Time, sometimes months of time is skipped between sentences and verses without warning. Matthew just gave the time it took for them to get to a high mountain, six days he explained. Matthew skipped over the time they stayed there praying which was for days not hours. After all they were prepared to erect tents during that event. They had equipment for a long stay. Luke simply told what happened at this mountain and explained why they went there but he only timed the transfiguration that took place and not the trip. Both included the sayings: Mt 16:28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom. So now we have a very good account as to what prayer meant for Him and how long they prayed before our Lord was transfigured. Information that most miss when they are reading scripture.
I put together my own harmony of important events and have one on the Passover: Anyone can see this at: http://home.earthlink.net/~jmalik/ch9notes.txt This was done because most think that just a few hours passed after our Lord's arrest and execution. But when the scriptures are placed side by side then what is revealed is a long stay of some six days before our Lord's execution and a much longer time spent nailed up than most people realize. As I said in another post, things like this reveal a great deal about a person and their ability to understand texts.
May you have peace!

SOOOooooo, you're saying that the transfiguration was the fulfillment of that statement? Hmmmm... I don't think you are correct, dear JoeMal. The word of my Lord, the Holy Spirit and HOLY One of Israel, JAHESHUA MISCHAJAH, to ME... is that this statement was fulfilled when JOHN... who was standing there with him at the time... DID see him come into his kingdom. Which event John recorded at Revelation 11:15. JOHN... had not yet died when he saw this momentous event.
I put together my own harmony of important events and have one on the Passover:
Yes. Of course, dear one: YOU put together YOUR OWN harmony of [important] events... as well as one on the Passover. Unfortunately, I'll have to skip these and wait for the version that the HOLY SPIRIT gives you. I'm sure you won't mind...
I bid you peace!
YOUR servant and a slave of Christ,
