I had not noticed it until you brought this to my attention, but the men in the first pic are really out of proportion..I guess Photo Shop strikes again.
As for the second one? It only looks weird to those on the outside. The dubs will think it is fine. We can see the staged setting - attractive girls at the front, a little boy dressed up to look cute...
We used to giggle at the pictures when I was "in" , we never took them seriously.

Maybe part of the weirdness is their body language. None of them look comfortable or natural.
