Is JW Disfellowshipping Scriptural?

The "apostle" Paul in one instance told the congregation, NOT the "elders" (no such thing in the early church) to remove such a man; this was a decision to be made individually, not officially. And it was an egregious case of public immorality; not smoking, masturbation, questioning, or drunkenness.

The WT is nothing more than a police state in cheap suits.

They think nothing of destroying families for infractions like smoking, or drug use. When children are raped, they seldom disfellowship.

They are corrupt, moronic, intellectually dishonest and morally bankrupt.

Other than that, a nice bunch.

    Fu**ers.

    Hi,

The craziest thing is that they disfellowship you for believing what is actually written on the pages of the bible!

    All the best,

Similar as Besty pointed out above....

When you look up disfellowship(ed) in the NWT it tells you to look up expelled which directs you to John 9:22 & 12:42

John 9: 22 His parents said these things because they were in fear of the Jews, for the Jews had already come to an agreement that, if anyone confessed him as Christ, he should get expelled from the synagogue.

12:42 All the same, many even of the rulers actually put faith in him, but because of the Pharisees they would not confess [him], in order not to be expelled from the synagogue; .....

But if you apply JW rationale.... DFing shouldn't be practiced because the Pharisees practiced it (Jesus said they were offspring of vipers and wicked) and well we as all know Y OU cannot be drinking the cup of Jehovah and the cup of demons; YOU cannot be partaking of “the table of Jehovah” and the table of demons.

    Dfing (expelling) is from S..A..T..A..N

Funny that they would refer to texts where this practice was used to oppose Christ. It just goes to show what a hypocritical and dishonest bunch the WT Society and FDS really are.

I remember a WT. in the 70's, I think or early 80s that showed step by step how the Jews shunned people and the Society used it as their basis for disfellowshipment. I always thought that was weird!

Yes. Draws a parallel to the GB and the religious leaders of Jesus day. The GB promotes the treatment imposed by the Pharisees on the common folk. Jesus denouced that treatment. The GB tells members to treat an unrepentant sinner as a tax collector or man of the nations, appealing to the Pharissees' treatment of such persons...ignoring Jesus treatment of the same type of person (eating/dining with)...So whose example does the GB want its members to follow?

    Answer: The Pharisees.

    absolutely!

So Jesus told his followers to 'beware of the leaven of the Pharissee"...to not be like them...he disired "mercy not sacrifice"...he denounced them...he called them "broods...offspring of vipers"....yet the GB feels they know better than Jesus and tell their members to follow them.

Another point to consider, I don't recall the exact scriptures right off and don't care to look, but the biblical example they use for disfellowshipping is where the guy gets kicked out in 1 Cor. He is let back in in 2 Cor. They were written 6 months apart. The guy was kicked out for gross sins and "reinstated" in 6 months. Most DFed are out at least a year before they get reinstated.
