Can't help being impressed by similar profiles of our Leolaia and that young British student, Gail Trimble, who won the University challenge on BBC 4: they both are linguistic scholars in latin and greek and, yes, they even look alike, IMO.

How curious.....I got a PM yesterday from someone else who said practically the same thing that you just wrote! I do see some physical resemblance, especially when I see her in profile. But I am afraid my Latin isn't what it used to be when I studied it in college; I am positive she'd kick my butt! Now if they instead had questions on ancient Jewish and Christian literature and linguistics, then it might be interesting. ;)

Since I haven't seen this program (as I am in the US), could you tell me something about it? Is it like Jeopardy and does it specialize in classics topics, or is that just what her own specialization happens to be?

    HI Leolaia

University Challenge is a quiz programme between the Universities of the UK and yesterday was the final, each team has four members all of whom are students. The person to whom AR refers is self evidently very bright and as a result has made headlines for in the National newspapers here.

    That's what I said!

I am not sure whether you can watch BBC iPlayer outside the UK but this is the full programme on the iPlayer.

Actually Gail Trimble didn't do as well in the final as she did in the earlier rounds, but her team still won.

Here is a taste of a regular episode in case the BBC link did not work.

University Challenge has questions on a wide range of academic arts and science subjects with a small amount of popular culture thrown in. So it does not specialise in the classics or linguistics, but a reasonable percentage of the questions falls into that category. It is a bit more difficult than many other popular TV quiz shows I would say.

No, BBC iPlayer doesn't work for me in the US .... I'd love to see a full episode. I looked for torrents but came up empty. The clips are great but would like to see more.

Some facial similarity...but Leolaia has much bigger boobs!

The distraction keeps the guys from being intimidated by her being is soooo much smarter!

Doppleganger? I saw a bunch of Leolaia pictures composited into one image some time back. My favorite was the 2003 pic, as she has a much rounder and more adorable face than Ms. Trimble. Not really in the zone where I would do one of my world famous Separated-at-Birth pics. Now the brains matchup, would be very fascinating.

By now, Leolaia, you have gotten all the information thanks to our British JWD friends. I've known about Gail Trimble only through English e-papers, no more. By the way, this young Gail has a terrific word flow on the BBC interview video, her synapses are obviously quite well irrigated. Makes me feel so clumsy, let alone in English.
