GARY MAY, C.O.
This guy thrived making fools of as many sheeple as he could. I'll never forget the time our congregation's singing did not meet his lofty standards. After the full three verses, he tells the music boy to start it over, which in those days meant an awkward full minute for us to think about what we had done while the casette was rewound. We literally sang it again, from the top, "with some feeling".
Seeker, I wish I had known you in the old days.
Anybody know DON CULP???
Wow, like Seeker4 said lots of memories here. I remember Frank Bartel he stayed at our home while on a visit as host cong. He liked to drink beer so he wasn't as bad as most remember. They let their hair down a little when they stay with you. Paul Illingsworth was our CO & DO at different times. Interesting he left Bethel because of the politics. Sorry, to hear Chuck Valours wife died recently. He was my first CO. He would get right in an help out with some of the cleaning of the hall and everything. A real human sometimes & his talks were great. Some of the last couple I can remember were Roberts (brother love) who came after Antrum Smith (evil mean guy) and a jewish brother from Boston (good speaker then became anointed don't remember his name) and if I hadn't thrown away all my notebooks before I moved I would have their names. Don't want to remember most of them. Bad memories of getting chewed out about time as a pioneer from some. Maybe, that is why I didn't keep it up after two years.

Henry Casper was stuffy but I remember his brother and he seemed so laid back. Bartell was nicknamed Frank BallBag but a couple of elders that I know. They couldn't stand him!
COs:
Creefall
Rogers
Busby
Karris
Wells
Mallet
JP Jones
The only DO I remember off the top of my head was Herd.
Never my DO, but I knew Mike Cook and his family personally because I am from his hometown and spent much time with his family in "theocratic activities".
Minimus mentioned Arnie Schneider. I had him in Michigan back from 1987-1990. After I went to temporary work in Bethel in late 1987 he told or suggest to the elders that they give me a part on the service meeting to tell everyone what it was like at Bethel. They had to give me the part. He conducted my Pioneer School the next summer and after I transferred to another congregation to help them, he recommended my appointment for a MS. When they were visiting another congregation, I found out when their anniversary was and told friends at another congregation that he was visiting future. They arranged a party for them. I always liked them for being good with the kids and kind to people.
Other DOs I remember. David Bigler, Sam Herd, Paul Illingworth, Frank Bartel,
COs - Randall Poto, Arnie Schneider, Ken Carpenter, Joseph Mazacek, Bob Saia, Billy Kim Nichols, Manny Balbutin, Tim Friebus
DO - Yasko
CO - Gus
Don't remember first name of either of them.
