SNOWBIRD- What a sad story, but unfortunately one that is all too common in the JW cult. It is a patriarchal cult and women and children are treated like 2nd class citizens. It's disgusting . Too bad the hefty guy at the door didn't kick the elder in the teeth ! But it might have worked out in the long run for the woman because now she can get professional psychiatric care and hopefully heal in time . Personally I think 90 % of JW elders should all face about a year of incarceration with big guys to show them some REAL brotherly love while in prison. Just my 2 cents ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Mary, there are quite a few elders who knew, but as I stated in my opening post, he lords it over them. The lone elder who may have stood against him died in a drowning accident in 1993. What I meant about the CO is that - and I don't mean any disrespect here - White people are often clueless when dealing with Black people who are cunning and manipulative.

in my old cong. there was a couple that were miserable with each other - he was a complete ass... she was intolerable, you didnt want to be anywhere near either of them.
Interstingly though, when they married she was a successful real estate agent, she had a good business and was active socially, she was sharp and confident. After being married to him she quit her job, raised kids, went on prozac, they divorced and he DF'd - both kids out of "the truth".
Why do these people do this to themselves? But if you talk to a JW about them they will say "they didnt put Jehovah first" or "they didnt have Jehovah as their third cord" or some BS like that.....

What is really sick about stories like this is that the man was probably attracted to the woman BECAUSE she was so intelligent, confident and capable. THEN he goes and tries to tear her down one piece at a time like he was demolishing a building. If she was one of the women who was desperate to be married and just had to grab somebody then she repented at her leisure. Why is it that a man (or a modern man, at least) has such problems with a capable woman?
What about the scripture that describes the 'capable wife'. I am convinced that JW men do NOT want a capable wife like the one described in the Bible. She is a threat to the wimps in the congregations. Why are modern men so emasculated and threatened by a woman who has a few grey cells???
