I have to admit that the way things were going on this forum ... if my wife ever decided to start researching outside the organization - I would NEVER let her view this forum. It would scare her back into the Kingdom Hall. I'm serious!

That's an excellent point. I think we all should consider our former friends who are trapped in the cult, and what there reaction would be here? It is a big drunken orgy? If so, then it validates what the JW tells them about "apostates". This place should be about doctrine discussion, news updates, sharing stories of JW experience, and support.

Oh Missing, I studied doctrines until I about lost my mind. I do enjoy getting the news and updates, but I have so moved beyond looking up everything JW related for myself. The obsession with them is gone. The scars are there, but at least there is an explanation now.

Sharing stories of JW childhood is bittersweet to me, but if we don't share that then those who are waking up feel alone. I felt alone when I found this place. Now I don't. I don't give a hoot if you are republican, democrat, gay, straight, prude or whore. We are all in different stages of recovery. Yes, recovery. For those of us who were born in that is what we face.

I have no interest in doctrine, as far as in depth study. Sometimes things will make me think "hmmmmm, interesting" but it rarely goes beyond that. I will never trust another human being to tell me how to interpret the bible or tell me right from wrong. I guess you could call that loss of innocence because I never had the opportunity to figure that out for myself until I was an adult.

Jeez, I'm waaaay off topic, and I wrote another novel.

I always thought this was a JW discussion forum, not a site to view porn or to discuss one's sexual preferences. How many JW lurkers have stopped visiting because some of the content here merely confirms what the Watchtower has been saying about the internet and viewing "apostate" sites?

Oh, well, I don't care to go back and read about it or get an explanation of what's happened. I'm happy in my own life... for a change. JWD still interests me. If others are leaving, fine, I wish them well. I'm not going anywhere.

I'm not entirely sure that this is actually the case. If you and your partner went to the movies last night, I really don't imagine that should be a problem to post. If there were other details that you wouldn't tell 12-year-old Jimmy or great-aunty Agnes, maybe you wouldn't include those details here either. I think (or at least hope) that somewhere underneath Simon's vitriol, that was the underlying intent.
