How come this person ENDs his tirade with 'No one knows the day and hour in which he is coming!'

It would have been even more obvious that reading his 'piece' was a waste of time if he had quoted that scripture FIRST!!

    Prophets of DOOM!

Well we have turned into a recession, and it's probably going to be a bad one. The best economists in the world can't tell you what oil prices will be doing in five or ten years. There could be tough times ahead. It's an Armageddonists bread and butter.

We'll all muddle through and it may be a good thing in the long run.

A nation or many nations getting much poorer concentrates the minds of politicians to NOT go to WAR because they damned well can't afford it.....financially and politically!

This big recession that is beginning may yet keep us all alive for a few more years!

The people who lived through the 'dark ages' would consider this paradise.

I think the reality is, given the speed of communication, and how much information is available to everyone, the world is a lot smaller, and it's troubles all that much more apparent.

The reality is, this same research done at the time of the great depression here in the USA would of looked a lot worse.

The rest of the world has had conditions far worse than people in the US.

Why is it because AMERICAN pockets are affected this must be a sign of the end??

As for the Bible pinpointing "this Generation", WHICH ONE?? Russell said the generation that saw 1874 would still be alive when the end came.

Rutherford pinpointed the ANNOINTED as still being on earth when it came.

Knorr said people that were alive in 1914 would see the end....

Read the Witness Literature more carefully and you will see how foolish it is to run ahead of Jehovah's Chariot. You will never outguess what the organization will come up with if you are truly faithful.

Yep.... Jesus prophesied that the stock market would crash, homes would foreclose, the dollar would become weak, and hurricanes and tornados would hit....

    NOT!

    Yes Lance,

these things plus the aging generation of 1914- they are 96 yrs old already...oops old light! strike that

Ok these things plus the rapidly dwindling number of annointed, as we know this number was sealed in 1935.....ooops! That's an apostate teaching now! Jehovah has lovingly provided correction thru his FDS.

Better stop here...this WT babble can be nauseating.

I can think of several "critical times" that are arguably worse than today. How about the final fall of the Roman Empire in the 6th century (Justinian, the last Roman Emperor, dies) followed by two centuries of devastating plague that wiped out (ready for this?) HALF THE POPULATION OF EUROPE...OVER 100 MILLION PEOPLE! The Tsunami in 2005? The 2008 China earthquake? Hurricane Katrina? CHILD'S PLAY compared to the black plague!

Economically, how about the depression, something that makes this recession look like a small blip in the radar. While there may be a financial crisis with people struggling, it's nothing compared with how people lived in the early 1930's. JWs are panicking and saying "the end is nigh!" with 8% unemployment rates, try the 25% depression levels.

JWs will always focus on the negative no matter how relatively good things are. The fact is, there is hardly anything about the times today that make it stand out as worse than any other time. The only reason it seems worse is because it just happens to be the time in which the people writing this live. They have experienced 70-80 of the thousands of years mankind has walked the planet. As bad as things seem to be, I would much rather live today than live in the middle ages, or pretty much any time before a few hundred years ago.
