"Worldly" people tend to believe in angels. Whenever a tornado blows a house off its foundation, the interviewed survivors often talk about how their "guardian angel" was looking out for them. They never say a demon in the form of a tornado blew away their house. IMO, both beliefs are superstitious, but at least the "angel" crowd looks for the good instead of the bad.

As others noted, fear of demons is encouraged by the WTS to control its slaves.

As Al Gore said about the republicans They played on our fears. This is what orginizations do when they do not have any substance. They play on your fears. Do not vote Democrat the terrorists will win, do not stop supporting the society the demons will attack you. Same control tatic same use of fear.

Funny thing, I have "demon" things throughout my apartment (that I put here on purpose). These include Christmas decorations of every kind, a computer hooked up to Satan's Internet, a Ouija board, three books from a "secret" society that the Washtowel Slaveholdery bashed, music from every demonic band that the Washtowel Slaveholdery showcased as demonic, Crisis of Conscience, and even some porn.

And I haven't had so much as a visit from a demon.

You're exactly right. All these immigrants from Mexico grew up terrified of all that stuff. Ghost stories and demon stories everywhere. When the JWs got a hold of them here in the States, their pre-existing fears of ghosts and demons were preyed upon. In fact, even those demonized smurf stories did not originate with the JWs...Those stories were rampant among the general populace in Latin America back in the 80s.

Add to that human fear of the unknown ,the propensity for superstition and it all seems entirely logical to the more emotional Witness mind.

I was never that way, nor my wife. She is a film fan and we took some stick from dub relatives for having a dvd of a film that "opened the way to the demons "Lord of the Rings"

They could not explain how a product made in a factory, bought in a regular store,and never pre owned could have had contact with spirits...But they stuck to their superstition.

PS I know that this is not universally held by all dubs, although they all have to accept the "reality of demon power", because the WT teaches it
