    1) Say F-U to the environmental wackos and drill for oil in Anwar. Pull that oil out of ground like it's going out of style.

Then see how fast gas goes down when supply goes up.

    2) Say F-U to the environmental wackos and lets us (USA) build nuclear facilities.

In short... I'm not worried about it.

Because the U.S. has the raw materials to get through this.

There's an amazing amount of oil in Anwar. But the U.S. law doesn't allow us to drill for it.

But you watch. As soon as we have to eat rats for dinner? Even the enviromental wacko's will suddenly think it's a good idea to drill.

    Confucious

Drilling in ANWAR is a band-aid at best.

You want a nuke in your back yard I doubt it. The industry still can't insure it's self. Plus it is dependant on coal plants and fossil fueled vehicles to dig refine and deliver the fuel. Then we come to fuel disposal which there is non. The best guess so far is to sit in a cave for millions of years. Great idea until there is an incident.

Embrace the environmental wackos the have been right so far. Buy smaller cars, use less, and get over it.

A big part of the problem from what I hear is the hyperinflation caused by the over spending for the war on terror .Printing more and more money drives it's value down , also venezuela has offered to sell oil at reasonable prices but since chavez won't let OPEC run his country they wont take advantage of it. I also remember the prices went up because of greed in the oil companies wanting more profit . I agree we need more options and the oil companies are now saying they will spend money on wind farms and alternatives . Gee a little late on that ...............

I agree with Burn the Ships and his comments on the rise in oil prices. The rise in prices has little to do with the war in Iraq. The war is just a guise for unbridled greed. And take a look into the greed over bio fuel crops and the food shortages, food riots and bloodshed it's causing in third world countries. Rice is being rationed here in the USA at Sam's Club because of the shortages in third world countries. People are beginning to starve because rice, corn, soybeans and sugar cane crops are being diverted to the bio-fuel industries. Fuel prices rise and all prices rise because everything has to be shipped or depends on products that have to be shipped.

In January I posted about what is going on to cost of things in America. Now, gasoline is almost 4.00/gal and food items continue to soar? What is going on?!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the "real" world, my friend. The USA, being the self-appointed centre of the universe, finally feels what it's been like for decades in other countries. When Americans - who happen to be among the most priviledged and self-indulged people on the planet - start whining about the soaring cost of living, we know things must be really tough in other countries.

Hell, even the Watchtower Society cited the increasing cost of fuel as one of the reasons there will be one less meeting night a week from 2009. A little on the feeble side for a religion that's supposed to know all about enduring hardships during this very, very, very extended time of the end. People elsewhere in the world have endured rising fuel prices for years and had to drag the kids out to meetings 3 nights a week. But, if it happens in America, it must be important: it takes soaring costs in the USA before the pain is acknowledged.

GW Bush just may get the credit for being the catalyst behind the collapse of the entire global economy. It's being said that the only thing standing between the recession and depression right now is that the stock market hasn't collapsed yet. Get ready. If inflation continues at the rate it is, depression is not far away. And the oil barons will have hoarded plenty of wealth to get through it, while they watch the rest of us suffer. As long as there is the tiny elite and the vast poor, the elite don't give a rat's a$$ about the rest.

The WTBTS survived the depression from what I've read and rutherford et al were driving expensive cars even not even roughing it for appearances. No doubt it is about the rich and greedy pulling all the strings.

Wow! Sounds like the world is going to hell in a handbag!

Could it be, that those at the 'top' want to eliminate the hangers on at the very bottom......ie starve them out.

Then, they are left with just the obedient middle classes to do their bidding!

No. They wish to destroy the middle class, so that there are a few filthy, stinkin' rich and the rest will be flilthy, stinkin', poor. The poorest will likely fair better than the pampered upper middle to moderate middle class will fair. The poorer people are, the more used to poverty they are. The middle class is not going to like destitution.

The elitest, upper crust doesn't give a good god damn about anyone but the uppercrust. Unless someone turns around these fuel prices, the entire world faces depression. What do you think is gonna happen when no one can afford fuel? Kiss inflation so steep that a "will barrow won't buy a loaf of bread" good morning. There are already food riots going on in third world countries, due to the lack of maize, rice & soybeans, crops that are being diverted to process bio-fuel. Do some research. If fuel prices don't go down, life as we earthlings know it is going to change drastically.

A comment was made about the USA finally feeling the pain. It was said in an almost gloating way. Don't gloat. When the wealthiest nation on earth is falling, it's a very bad sign for the rest of the world.

One morning recently, I woke up to the morning, network news. They were reporting food shortages & riots in 3rd world countries and limits being placed on rice purchases in the USA as a result. The limits here so far are due to hoarding in the 3rd world. I was intrigued. I did some research. Here is just one search result.

Then they are cutting their own throats FHN. They can't have a stable life without a middle class. If it becomes few rich/may poor there will be a revolution that will redistribute the wealth. That is the course these things always take in more developed societies.
